About Me

I am a graduate of Rice University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. I then attended the University School of Law at Austin, earning my Doctorate of Jurisprudence. After a career as a lawyer, and then as a Director of a large business unit in a legal publishing company, I decided to become a teacher because I know how transformational education can be. During my time as a lawyer, I gained first-hand knowledge of how difficult life can be for someone who has little education and how vulnerable they are in this world. I have taught middle school English since 2013. While I am most passionate about tutoring Literature, Reading, and Writing, I also enjoy tutoring American History and Social Studies. I enjoy helping students understand the power and value of words. Furthermore, a student needs to see the real-world value of what they are learning. My job is to make the material relevant, so that there is a greater enthusiasm for the subject. Learning should be a rewarding experience. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, visiting art museums, walking, and watching the world famous Spurs.
