About Me

My experience includes two years as a middle school teacher and five years homeschooling. I am certified for Generalist 4-8, Special Education EC-12, and ESL Supplement. My Associate’s degree is in Liberal Arts from St. Philip’s College and my Bachelor’s degree is in General Studies from West Texas A&M University. My most recent position involved teaching 6th – 8th grade in a self-contained Adaptive Behavior classroom. I worked with students with behavioral and emotional disorders in a confined setting. I built relationships, through self-discipline and consistency, with students who had otherwise been given up on. By building successful relationships, I have had a high level of achievement in working with my students and their families. I have witnessed growth of all my students. I provided ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and overall evaluation. I worked with both general and special education students. I have had to re-evaluate how I monitor learner’s progress due to the number of learners I served and have learned to be proactive when problems arise. I have developed areas of strength in organization, time management, and communication. It is my goal to combine my range of experience and expertise with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to your tutoring sessions.
