The student and I reviewed for his test in biology and in history. We reviewed a PowerPoint presentation that he received in biology, which explained the importance of biology and the history behind evolution. We also reviewed some native tribes in the history of North and South America for his history test.

During this session, the student and I worked on several topics. We started with his language arts homework, which asked him to differentiate between connotation and denotation. He did FANTASTICALLY in this topic. He's very good at understanding why an author would choose one particular connotation over another. We also talked about the difference between tone and mood, both of which are pretty intuitive for him as well. Then we reviewed for his science test, focusing on TODALSIGss and map projections. He summarized his notes for me (having him explain the concepts to me helps him understand them himself) and then I quizzed him on various aspects.

We covered additional math practice and setting up inequality equations based on word problems (to study for an upcoming math quiz). We will continue practicing translating word problems to expressions and equations next time.

He completed 9 velocity problems for his unit review for Friday . He will complete the rest tomorrow. The student was a willing student as always and did what I asked. We also completed some of his science review-9problems to prepare for his test on Friday. I will finish the rest with him in the next two day.

During our time together, the student and I prepared for his two exams (biology and world history) together. For biology, we worked hard at reviewing the sample test at the back of the chapter; for world history, we reviewed the PowerPoint presentation slides the teacher had presented to the students. Additionally, I left the student with a note sheet that summarized the biological topics. For the other subject, it appears that he had a solid understanding on these topics, so I look forward to seeing the student succeed at these two exams tomorrow.

Student 1 and I mostly reviewed his homework, which included multiplication, division, and writing. We then discussed fact versus opinion, which he got right away. For Student 2, we worked on reading comprehension and fact versus opinion. She too got that right away, so I then gave her a quick review quiz. She had a bit of difficulty here. For next week, I will be giving them both a longer review quiz and review packets.
