I am a graduate of Rice University in Houston, Texas where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with a minor in Neuroscience. I then earned my MD from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. I am now in residency and training to become a dermatologist . My tutoring experience includes being a neuroscience T.A. during undergrad, an anatomy tutor during medical school, and as a volunteer tutor for middle school-aged children through various organizations. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about math and science. I understand that each student requires different strategies to learn and am prepared to provide a unique and adaptable approach to each student. I am a former practicing attorney, transitioning into part-time tutoring and teaching so that I may spend more time with my family. I have previously taught part time at a local technical college. My favorite tutoring subject areas are writing, English, and reading comprehension. My undergraduate degree is in journalism and I have won several awards from the Georgia Press Association for my writing. I obtained perfect scores on the SAT verbal portion and on the SAT II test for Literature. My varied experiences have given me strong instructional, writing, and organizational skills that will allow me to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to increase their scores on standardized tests and perform better in school. I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Neurobiology (B.S.) and minoring in Jazz Studies and Biomedical Physics. While I tutor many areas within math, science, and standardized test preparation, I am most passionate about biology and algebra because of my interest in these subjects as well as my belief in their importance. I have always been the friend who fellow peers go to for guidance with work and because of this, I have learned the value of patience, communication, and empathy in the education process.
