Today we covered valence electrons and Bohr models. I reviewed how to construct Lewis dot structures and gave the student practice problems for both valence electron and Bohr models. We went over a science pre-test and reviewed the elements of the periodic table. We went over some notes that she had until she knew all of the information.

We covered what algebraic expressions are and terms like variables and constants. We also learned about combining like terms and the different arithmetic properties. We then moved on to science and reviewed the concept of the atom and it's different parts. We also talked about motion and the different quantities of speed, velocity, and acceleration.

Today the student completed sections of his packet. We also completed his math packet, he had to do even number and what problems. We were able to finish all of his homework that's due tomorrow. He has to just copy over a few more problems on his work. We are also going to start working on his English outside reading assignment.

The student and I studied for the rest of his classes and got a majority of his Science Fair project done. It was a pleasure working with the family for the last few months, and I loved seeing him grow as a student and as a friend.

We worked on reading and writing today. We did some reading comprehension, where the student read a story and answered some questions, and we did some writing exercises (using stronger adjectives, writing a short story and organizing main ideas and supporting details). He needed a little bit of help coming up with some strong adjectives and ideas for his story, but once he got started he did very well organizing his ideas!
