I have recently completed my undergraduate degree, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Computer Science, which I earned in 3 years with a 4.0 GPA. During my time as a student, I worked as a peer tutor where I educated and assisted over 100 students through a wide variety of topics in programming, mathematics, and other peripherally related subjects. I typically focus on tutoring mathematics from pre-algebra to calculus and programming fundamentals. It is my belief that there is no such thing as a bad student, just an unprepared teacher.

I am very excited to be a part of the Varsity Tutors staff! I love helping people, and I especially enjoy working with children. I have graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in teaching 4th-8th grade math. I am also a certified elementary school teacher. I have always wanted to be a teacher because helping others reach their goals is very rewarding. It is so wonderful to see a student’s face light up when he or she understands something I have explained. I have experience teaching in the classroom through my student teaching. During my student teaching, I taught in a sixth grade math classroom for one year. I am also currently a substitute for PISD.My hobbies are reading, going to the movies, and spending time with friends and family. I also like listening to music and playing the piano. I took piano lessons for many years. I enjoy going to the mall and bowling, as well.Math is my strongest subject, and I am able to tutor in algebra, geometry, middle school math, and pre-cal. I like math because I enjoy working with numbers and figuring out problems. I also like how math is very logical and that there is a process to determine every answer. When I am tutoring, I will work with the students to determine what they already know. Then I will explain the parts they don’t know or guide them into discovering how to work the problem. After that, I will provide examples or use similar problems to have them work it out themselves to make sure that they understand the process. I will also have the students return to that same type of problem later on in the session to reinforce what they have learned. Of course, I understand that each student is different and may need different teaching strategies or methods in order to help him or her understand the material. I will be sure to get to know each one of my students to learn the best ways to teach and work with them.

I'm a recent graduate of The University of Texas at Dallas. I received my bachelors of science in marketing and am now pursuing my passion for law at Saint Louis University School go Law. I am proficient in editing, essay writing, English, and various marketing/business proposal creation.

I am a graduate of The University of Texas where I received my PhD in the Humanities with a focus on History and Literature. In addition to my extensive experience in the classroom, I have also raised a child with learning differences so I am keenly aware that everyone learns at their own speed and in their own way. There are no quick fixes and the student must be a party to their own success. I firmly believe that with organization, a good work ethic, and the proper learning environment, all students can do well in school. However, the most important ingredient is self-confidence, which is only achieved through accomplishing target goals. In the classroom, I concentrate on the individual needs of each of my students by helping them with organizational skills, reading, research techniques, and especially writing. This approach enables each student to not only develop their own style, but provides them with learning tools which can be applied to other areas of study.

I have been a tutor for three years at the current school that I teach at. When tutoring in science, I try to explain the steps necessary to solve problems and understand the material. Currently, I am a law student at Baylor Law and will graduate in February of 2021. I tutor a wide range of subjects from Political Science and History to English.
