Today the student brought in his physics and trigonometry homework. His physics homework involved calculating energy cost of electricity in his own high school, which involved counting rooms on a blueprint and then using wattage and energy cost rates to calculate various costs. His trigonometry assignment he found very easy and had no problem finishing within the last part of our session. He told me he has an upcoming physics test, and is still waiting to hear back on his trigonometry test grade.

The student reported that he talked to his teacher about his grade in History and his teacher said he's not done grading the unit 1 projects and tests. So I think that's good that he advocated for his grade which is not something he would have previously done. We read and discussed three chapters of his textbook, on WWI. I quizzed him orally on the facts and the timeline. This will help him to prepare for his quiz on Friday. On Thursday, we'll zip through the worksheets.

The student and I reviewed our standard organizational methods. She was recently surprised by a math test announcement so we had to reorganize her day to day study schedule. She and I also tried getting a few of the tasks she needed to accomplish out of the way. We finished 3 out of 6 tasks which meant she could spend the rest of the evening studying and preparing her speech.

This evening the student and I focused on his biology midterm review. We made flash cards, discussed a variety of topics and ways of remembering pertinent information. I compiled extensive notes to help flesh out all trouble areas and areas of interest. I will send him my notes by tomorrow afternoon so he can have them to prepare for Friday's midterm.

Today worked on test prep and testing strategies with the student . We looked at her tasks and prioritized them. We discussed her strategies for studying for her chemistry test and what she could do to improve her performance. I suggested she talk to her teacher and ask specifically what she needs to study for the next test. I also suggested she create a semester practice quiz using . This is a tool she uses to study that appears to be very effective. I worked with her on her theology assignment. She appears less stressed and more organized and managing her time better.
