The exam is made of five different sections. Depending on the section, you will have a specified time allotment and a number of questions you must answer. You might want to consider sharpening your time management skills to complete your exam within the given time. You want to make sure you answer each question. Do not let the ACT restrain you from possible further educational opportunity. Let's look further into the ACT so you can get an idea of what is to come.
What materials are covered in a Salt Lake City ACT class?
Your Salt Lake City ACT class will provide you with assistance via a knowledgeable approach to understanding ACT material. Though the questions may not be the same as what is on your actual exam, the question types and subject categories covered in the Salt Lake City ACT class remain the same. The ACT categories include an optional Writing section combined with the mandatory categories of Reading, Math, Science, and English. There are two response types you will encounter: multiple choice and passage-based responses. The total test time is just under three hours without counting time for breaks.
One of the five sections that are part of the ACT is Writing, which is optional. This section allows you to display your composition skills. You will be presented with one question and will be given 40 minutes to provide a written essay response. As you write your answer, you will be asked to select one of three given statements, then make a relevant connection between the two. Your Salt Lake City ACT course can assist you in strengthening your composition and writing skills, so you maximize your opportunity to do your best on the writing section of the ACT.
The Reading portion of the ACT requires you to use your critical reading skills combined with your reading comprehension abilities. You are encouraged to use each of the 35 minutes you are allotted wisely in order to answer all of the 40 questions presented within the reading section. You will be asked to respond to multiple-choice and passage-based questions. Topics that are included within the Reading section of the ACT may ask you to differentiate between fact and fiction, summarize ideas found within provided written texts, and showcase your ability to identify multiple types of relationships in writing. It's important to note the questions are created with the common practice of being based on a first-year college curriculum.
Once you begin the Math section of the ACT, you will have questions that include pre-algebra, elementary and intermediate algebra, geometry and trigonometry. The questions are presented to you in multiple-choice formats. It would be wise to review common mathematical concepts, including your ability to read and interpret data from graphs, functions, reliable measurement calculations, and equation interpretation. You will be given 60 minutes to answer all 60 questions.
The Science section is presented in multiple-choice format, and you will be tested on your current knowledge of biology, physics, earth sciences, and chemistry. You have 35 minutes to answer 40 questions. You should consider reviewing concepts that pertain to the designs of experimentation, scientific investigation, and the scientific method.
Just like in the Reading section, the English section of the ACT will present you with a number of questions in multiple choice and passage-based formats. Here you will have the opportunity to display your language skills. Topic development, style, tone, language use, and thought organization are some of the concepts that are tested within the English section of the exam. You will have 45 minutes to answer 75 questions to complete the English portion of the ACT.

...have been tutoring ever since I was in elementary school. Because not everyone learns the same way, I feel that it is easy for students to miss certain tidbits or whole subjects in the classroom, and it can quickly feel like it is too late to catch up. My goal is to work together to pick up the pieces that were lost or are close, but not quite there: learning the way you want to...

...is to help students become independent, comfortable, and confident in the fields they are studying. I love helping people get to the "aha" moment when they really understand what's being taught. In my experience, one of the most important parts of tutoring is setting clear expectations at the beginning and working toward a common goal. Given the right goals and assistance, I truly believe that anyone can master any of the subjects I teach.

I have a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. I am starting a part-time lecturer position at Paul Quinn College in the fall for General Biology I lab and lecture. I love to learn and teach. I read books, play board games, and do puzzles in my free time. ... I would find out what interests the student and try to find a way to incorporate that into the lessons, so that the student wants to learn.... Try to break down that skill or concept into skills or concepts that the student already knows.

...as a student. For the earlier part of my K-12 education, school was easy; tests and homework would be mere obstacles to my grade. Standardized tests, subjects that I just didn't get, and all these other educational obligations had me perplexed. I was lucky enough to acquire a...
