How can a Math tutor help you?

Math is an extremely useful skill that we rely upon in our daily lives. We use basic math knowledge when handing money, telling time, and figuring out how long commuting and traveling somewhere may take, to name a few examples. It is important that students learn how to study and practice math early in school, or else they may not know how to handle the subject further into their academic career. Oftentimes it's best to get started in the subject when it is possible, and that's usually not an option in a traditional classroom. Having a private tutor may help ensure that students learn the skills that they need to excel in math. Contact Varsity Tutors to get connected with math tutors in Kansas City, MO. These tutors may help your child be fully prepared for anything, from their class, to their test, to their MAP (Missouri Assessment Program).

Give your child the opportunity to gain the academic edge on their classmates, and instill in them academic habits that they'll be able to utilize in other courses. . An expert math tutor in Kansas City may develop a study plan to try to help your child make the most of their abilities to succeed in class. Your child's tutor may be able to work with them one-on-one, and at a pace that they work well with. They may be able to provide both feedback and help to any problems that your child may run into, and they are right there if there are any questions. A private tutor is able to construct a lesson plan focused around your child's need, and is able to make the sessions both fun and engaging. Your child may work better with a tutor who is committed to just their academic needs, as opposed to the impersonal feeling of learning in a classroom.

Math Tutoring review by Jennifer in Kansas City, MO
We tried the multiplication bingo again, and the student was a little more interested this time. Since he is working on time in class, I started with basics of time, the meaning of hands and looking at digital time readouts, and then we moved on to harder topics. The student does know how to tell what time it is, but he gets confused with math related to time like adding or subtracting minutes. He seems to add the hours and minutes together, so we will have to keep revisiting the basics until it makes sense to him. We did a little with fractions, since this is part of telling time.

Math Tutoring review by Sydney in Kansas City, MO
The student reviewed the conic section work on circles and parabolas we began last time. Today, the student and I went over her exam that she got back and identified where she ran into difficulties. Because Ashley will not be given additional time for her final, we are going to make drilling and getting her speed/accuracy up a major goal for the rest of the semester.

Math Tutoring review by Julie in Kansas City, MO
The student and I did a full practice math test. We also went over exponents and square roots again, which he was having trouble with last time. The student's accuracy continues to improve and he doesn't have any trouble with the concepts on the test, but he does make careless errors from time to time. We talked about the importance of checking work.

Today we reviewed an eighth grade state exam homework packet. She did well overall. We reviewed slope, graphing and the y-intercept formula. Her packet also covered proportions and similar triangles. We discussed translating word problems and labeling diagrams. She will likely start a new topic this week which we will review next time.

Math Tutoring review by Alonso in Kansas City, MO
This week all he had was a homework assignment on the inverse trigonometric functions which was a continuation from what we did in previous weeks. All we had to do was associate an angle measure with a measure of a length and we were done. We talked about why arcsin is not actually a true inverse of sin and why we need to restrict our domain in order to use the inverse trig functions.
