Private In-Home and Online Math Tutoring

Receive personally tailored Math lessons from exceptional tutors in a one-on-one setting. We help you connect with in-home and online tutoring that offers flexible scheduling and your choice of locations.

As soon as your child starts school, they will begin learning the most basic concepts of math. They will work on telling time, counting money, adding, and subtracting in no time. Because math is a cumulative subject, meaning each concept builds upon the ones that came before, it is important to your child's entire educational future that they get a proper understanding of the earliest math concepts. Some students pick this up easily, but some struggle with numbers and their relationship to each other and the world. If your child could use some help in their math class, the educational directors at Varsity Tutors could help you find a math tutor for your daughter or son in Alpharetta, GA.

Varsity Tutors will pick a math tutor in Alpharetta who can work with your child's individual learning style, abilities, and personality. This way, your child's tutor will be able to earn their trust, and that is helpful when working together. Some children are very shy about asking questions or attempting to answer problems in a classroom setting, afraid that other kids might tease them. But with a personal tutor, they know they are working with someone who has their best interests in mind, and they might feel free to ask the questions they have and be brave in attempting to answer problems, knowing that if they have an incorrect answer, their tutor will be gentle with them and help them find the correct answer together.

If you are looking for a math tutor near Alpharetta, Varsity Tutors could help you find a tutor who could meet your child's needs. The individualized study plan their tutor will create for your daughter or son could focus on their specific needs, including helping them get ready for the math portion of the Georgia Milestones exam. Do they already have a firm grasp of addition? Then their tutor will not waste time going over it. Are they struggling to understand division, even though they learned it two weeks ago in class? Their tutor will take all the time necessary to get your child caught up, focusing solely on this goal until it is accomplished. We can match you with a math tutor in Alpharetta, GA, who will adapt their lessons to your student's individual needs.

Your child's tutor will also be flexible. They will meet with your child at a time that works for your family, and in person in any location you choose, such as a library or your own home. They can also meet with your child face-to-face online if that is preferred by you and your student. Call Varsity Tutors today to get your child the math help they need!

Math Tutoring review by Milenka in Alpharetta, GA
We went over the student algebra packet by reviewing the material already covered in her class, and doing some extra practice problems while double checking the answers by plugging them into the calculator. We reviewed compound equations and complex equations, and worked on how to solve the problems and finding the domain. The session went very well, and we will meet again to finish reviewing for the final exam.

This was our second session from yesterday. We went over matrices and inverse matrices again. He really understands the concept but he makes simple mistakes when computing with arithmetic and algebra.

The student and I reviewed for her final this week. She is definitely better at some sections than others, but with some prompting, remembered most of the material that she had covered this semester. She knows what to write on her note card and how to use it.

Math Tutoring review by Neil in Alpharetta, GA
Today the student and I worked through our first approach to her final review. Her final exam is entirely comprehensive, meaning there is a significant amount of material on it from the first semester, where she did not do so well. We covered rational expressions, radicals, word problems dealing with ratios and rates, and graphing and solving quadratic equations. I believe the student has shown such significant improvement over these past months in large part because of the confidence she has gained by working in tutoring and on her own. Although she once did poorly in these areas, she is now showing a lot of heart in trying to understand and internalize the techniques and skills necessary to ace her final exam. As always, I enjoy working with her and look forward to our next meeting.

Math Tutoring review by Benjamin in Alpharetta, GA
During this session we focused on Algebra 2. We worked on the student's review sheet for his final and reviewed factoring, graphs with asymptotes, and simplifying equations. We made good progress in this material and identified several areas in his understanding that need improvement. The student has difficulty with mental multiplication and division, and so I encouraged him to use his calculator when necessary (to save time) and helped him think of some mental arithmetic in simpler forms to ease understanding (for instance, thinking of 9x5 as simply 50 - 5, since 5x10 is easier to remember).

Math Tutoring review by Nick in Alpharetta, GA
Today the student worked on and finished his math homework. He is doing well with multiplication of complex numbers but is still struggling with division. I ran his home work session like it was a test and gave him a checklist of things to look at before he gave the homework to me to be graded. He is taking to this well.
