If you find yourself needing MCAT prep, let Varsity Tutors enroll you in a Madison MCAT class that offers plenty of in-depth review. The Medical College Admission Test, also known as the MCAT, is one of the first steps you'll need to take to get into medical school. If you're planning on becoming a doctor, this is where you'll get started before you apply to school.
If you want to get a comprehensive overview of what's included on the test, a Madison MCAT prep course can offer the solution you're looking for. You'll get the benefit of classes that focus on collaboration and benefit from an expert instructor. MCAT courses provided by Varsity Tutors make it possible to learn what's on the test and how it's structured before you actually sit for it.
Your score on the MCAT is one of the factors medical schools will look at when you apply to various programs such as the one at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. The test has four sections and a total testing time of 7 and a half hours, which includes breaks and orientation. Each section allows you to earn between 118-132 points for a grand total of 472-528 points. How you perform on the test will show schools how much you understand the material presented to you and how you may handle medical school studies at this level. Therefore, it's important to do your best and apply yourself as much as possible so you can truly showcase your abilities.
What can a Madison MCAT class help me review?
The first section is the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems and has 59 questions that you'll have 95 minutes to answer. Here you'll focus on aspects of the human body such as tissues, organs, systems, and chemical principles that are present in living systems. You'll get tested in chemistry, including organic and inorganic chemistry as well as biochemistry, to name a few areas.
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills is the next section and is 53 questions long, with 9 question sets that focus on passages that you'll have to answer in 90 minutes. This area tests your verbal reasoning, analytical skills, and reading comprehension. You'll read from different passages that span various social sciences and use that information to assess the impact of new information and gain meaning from various compositional elements.
Next on the test is the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems. This is 59 questions you'll answer in 95 minutes. 10 of these question sets are based on various passages and 15 questions are independent. You'll be assessed on biological and biochemical concepts as well as reasoning skills. You'll answer questions on how cells and organ systems act, including how they sense and respond to their environment.
The last section of the test is the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. This portion is 59 questions to answer in 95 minutes. This area has questions on biology and the applications of psychology and sociology. Concepts included are people's behavior and how it changes, cultural and social differences, people's access to resources, and how social stratification affects all of this. The test includes other topics that relate to individuals, their emotional well-being, and the role society plays in this.
