If you'd like help studying for the SAT, then Varsity Tutors has you covered with several in-depth Orlando SAT prep options to choose from. The SAT is a standardized test that is usually taken by high school students who are getting ready to apply to college. The exam plays an important role in the college admissions process. If you earn a strong score on the SAT then you may be able to get into more competitive universities and could even earn more scholarship offers.
Of course, getting a good score on the SAT is easier said than done. The SAT can be a challenging exam to study for on your own. That's where Varsity Tutors can make a difference in your test preparation process. We can set you up with a course or a private instructor who can guide you through the material that you need to know for your upcoming test. Keep reading for more information on the SAT and what we can do to help you prepare for it.
What's covered on the SAT?
The SAT was designed with the goal of assessing how prepared the high school students who take it are to advance to the collegiate level of study. To that end, the test is split into three required sections and one optional section. The required sections cover Reading, Math, and Writing and Language. The optional SAT section is an Essay. Each of these sections requires a different academic skill set that you can get help developing through Orlando SAT preparation supplements provided by Varsity Tutors.
For example, the Math section covers many of the most important topics in the subject that you would've learned about in high school. To perform well on this section, you'll need to review things like algebra, data analysis, and introductory advanced math topics. The section is graded on a 200 to 800 point scale and is actually split into two parts. One part of the section allows students to use a calculator and the other part doesn't. If you're having a tough time preparing for the SAT Math section, consider reaching out to us to find a preparation option that fits your needs.
The second required test section is Reading. Here, you'll be given 65 minutes to answer 52 multiple-choice questions. The purpose of the Reading section is to assess your reading comprehension skill set. This is done by asking test-takers to read a series of passages on diverse subjects like social science, history, and science. You'll need to show a strong command of evidence as it's used in writing, identify and understand words used in context, and analyze the material that you read in a variety of ways.
The last required test section is called Writing and Language. On this part of the exam, you'll have 35 minutes to answer 44 multiple-choice questions. Again, you'll be asked to read a series of written passages and analyze and demonstrate your understanding of what you've read. This section is a little different than the Reading section in that the written passages here may include things like charts, graphs, and tables. The score you earn on this section will be combined with your Reading score to form one 200 to 800 point score.
Finally, you may also decide to take the SAT's Essay section. If you do, then you'll have 50 minutes to read a passage and respond to it in the form of an essay. You'll need to demonstrate your writing skills, ability to analyze another author's work, and more in order to perform well on this test section. This part of the SAT is graded on a 6 to 24 point scale.
How can Orlando SAT prep help you get more out of your study sessions?
If you decide to pursue Orlando SAT prep with Varsity Tutors, then you'll have two options to choose from. You could either take a course or work with an Orlando SAT tutor. Both of these options can help you develop your understanding of each section of the SAT. They also have different formats and benefits which will be discussed in more depth over the course of the next few paragraphs.
Working with a tutor may be the right option for you if you're someone who has previously enjoyed working directly with their instructor. You and your tutor can meet together for one-on-one learning sessions that take place at times that fit within your scheduling requirements. Your instructor can create a customized lesson plan for you that focuses on the specific topics that you need the most help with. This creates an efficient and effective personalized learning experience with benefits that are hard to replicate through other test preparation resources.
Or, you may prefer to take an Orlando SAT prep course if you've previously enjoyed the traditional classroom learning experience. Courses take place online on a live virtual learning platform. They are taught by experienced educators and give you the opportunity to learn alongside a group of peers. You can interact with your peers to get even more out of your study sessions. You'll even have the option of working with your educator in a one-on-one setting if you need additional help with one of the topics covered in your Orlando SAT prep class.
Both of these options are flexible enough to fit into most students schedules. If you're interested in tutoring, then we'll make every effort to connect you with someone who can work around the other important things in your life. New courses start weekly and there are a variety of course options that you can sign up for as well. This means that most students can choose between these options without worrying about how they will impact their schedules.
How can you get started?
Are you ready to get started with one of the Orlando SAT prep options we offer? If so, then the best way to do so is by reaching out to us directly. We'll get you set up with the right learning plan for your needs and you can begin studying quickly. We'd love to help you get more out of your test preparation process and hope to start working with you soon.
