I graduated from Clark University in 2002, did graduate work at UMass Medical and became a scientist in 2004. Until 2011, I worked in the labs of some of the hottest biotech startups in Boston helping to create medicines to help cancer patients, diabetics, and create general anti-pain drugs. I published and won awards for my research, but something was missing. I realized that the most fun part of my job was educating people about my research. Coming from a long line of teachers, I decided one day to go back to school and get my Masters in Education. I graduated from Salem State University with a Master of the Arts in Teaching Biology in 2011, got my teaching certifications, and started working in high schools soon after as a Biology and Chemistry teacher.During the past 3 years, I have taught three levels of Biology, including MCAS directed, college prep, and AP. Also Evolution, Ecology, and Cell Biology. I have also taught Chemistry for the past two years. I have been tutoring Biology, Chemistry, SAT's, SSAT's, ACT's and Algebra/Pre-calculus for the past three years. All of the students I have tutored have seen significant improvement in their grades and subject understanding as a result of our lessons.I believe that science is interesting and fun to learn. Sometimes, it is difficult for students to understand the relevance and importance of science in their lives and struggle with the material. As your tutor, I will help you to understand the intricacies of the subject and visualize the many connections that exist between the subtopics. I will also help you to develop the study skills and organization necessary for mastery of not just science, but also other information intensive topics.I keep things loose and fun, but also focused. I like to keep my lessons stress free and relaxed. Please contact me if there is a way I can help you, your son or daughter, or anyone you know learn the awesomeness of science and math or help give you the edge to reach your SAT goals.

I am a graduate of New York University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a focus on Process Engineering. Currently, I am working towards higher education degrees and starting my career as an Engineer. Helping others to learn and understand material has always been a passion of mine. Immersing myself in a rigorous Engineering curriculum, I found myself working closely with peers and classmates in understanding the subject material. During my time at New York University, I served as a tutor for the Tutoring Center at the School of Engineering working with individuals and groups from a variety of subjects corresponding to Engineering, such as mathematics, physics, life sciences, with a primary focus on Chemical sciences and Chemical Engineering coursework. As a part of the University outreach program, I had the opportunity to work with high school students and provide tutoring after school for local high schools in the area with respect to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. I have a strong affinity for tutoring Math and Science materials. These subjects require strong problem solving skills. In my experience working with students in Standardized test preparation, we find the time spent on the Math portions to be the most enriching with results. T.H White once claimed 'Education is experience, and the essence of experience is self-reliance.' I hold similar values to T.H White with respect to the learning process. There is always something to learn, and the best way to accomplish this is to immerse one-self in the subject. Through continuous repetition and exposure, problem solving skills will be developed and we become more confident in handling the problems that we face. I also do not believe in the concept of failure, for mistakes we make can be used to learn and better ourselves. Outside of academia, I am a club soccer coach training and teaching the game to young children and adolescence. I enjoy keeping my brain and body active through puzzles, reading, exercise, and many sports specifically soccer and volleyball. I enjoy activities that induce progress, as I am always looking to better myself.

I am passionate about teaching the "why" in a math problem. Unlike other teachers or tutors stressing formulas and steps to solve a problem. I guarantee I will help you break though your mathematics gap by understanding why these formulas work and the mathematical concept.

I have completed Bachelors of Engineering (B.E Electronics and Communication) in India.I worked as a Programmer Analyst in a Software Company and later switched to a Private School as Math and Computer Science teacher because teaching is my passion.I taught Math and Computer Science for elementary and middle school children.I use different teaching methods depending on the academic background like above average students should be given questions based on higher order thinking skills, average students should be given regular practice and for slow learners conduct different activities so that they show interest in subject.I use different teaching methods depending on the concepts also.I feel a good tutor will use a comprehensive, baseline assessment to determine what skills are missing. Then the program should be structured to accomplish two things: teach those skills to your child over time so that the gaps are filled and provide ongoing support so that the child can pass their math class. Since no two children are alike, the plan should be customized to meet the childs exact needs. An effective tutoring program not only teaches the core skills that your child needs, it also has built in assessments that track the childs progress and check for mastery, not just competence. Mastering these key skills means that the child wont get stuck in the math when they start doing higher level problems.A good tutoring program will ultimately help your child master the skills that he needs to continue on his own without extra help.My hobbies are reading books , engage my daughter in different activities like drawing , craft , sports etc

Nice to meet you! I'm J.T., a mathematician, computer programmer, and general-purpose nerd stereotype from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I hold two master's degrees: one in human rights policy from the University of Minnesota, and one in discrete mathematics from Michigan Technological University, where I also completed my undergraduate studies with a dual major in computer science and mathematics and a physics minor. As part of my master's program, I held an assistantship teaching first-year calculus for three semesters (after one semester of training), and I have worked with individual students for several years through private tutoring work. I've also worked as a teaching assistant for linear algebra and later calculus courses. In addition to my tutoring work, I am also pursuing a public policy career, intending to use my multidisciplinary background to use helping address the complex intersection of developing technologies and human rights issues.
