My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

Cleveland Executive Functioning Tutoring FAQ

Varsity Tutors recognizes how difficult it can be for families to watch their student struggle in school, so get in touch with us to connect with a qualified Cleveland tutor for students who struggle with executive function. Executive function is a set of cognitive processes that cover how the brain self-regulates its activities. Difficulties with executive function can impact a student's learning in school as they often struggle with working memory and flexible thinking. Working with a personal tutor who has experience with students who struggle with executive function can give your student the support they need to develop their skills.

Executive functions play a key role in helping individuals plan and organize tasks. Difficulties in these areas can become apparent as the demands of school increase each subsequent year. Children with ADHD often struggle with executive function but even students without ADHD can have difficulties with some of the main areas of executive function. If your student has difficulties with executive functions such as following conversations or completing tasks, Cleveland tutoring for students who struggle with executive function can help to minimize its impact on their academics.

What skills are covered during Cleveland tutor near me for students who struggle with executive function?

Each tutoring session is focused entirely on your student's needs, so the exact skills that are covered depend on different factors. School programs are available for students with learning differences. If your student has an IEP or 504 Plan, their instructor can use that as starting points to develop a customized lesson plan. Accommodating your student's preferred learning style can help make each session more engaging. For example, if your student is a visual learner who has trouble managing their time, their instructor can show them strategies to use charts and color-coded labels to outline their schedule in a notebook. Likewise, if your student is an auditory learner, their tutor can focus each session around listening and speaking to help them organize their thoughts.

The personal support offered by Cleveland tutors for students who struggle with executive function can help them develop the skills that are important for each area of executive function like working memory, cognitive flexibility, and inhibitory control. Students who have difficulty with executive function may have classroom-related issues such as having trouble following directions or getting overly emotional about certain things. As a result, these issues can affect their attitude toward learning. Working with a private tutor can help your student develop a more positive attitude in school.

The student and I completed the brand management assignment by outlining how well current magazine advertising aligned with the brand personality and voice that we established in a previous session. We also outlined the written response portion that she would have to complete, and created a mind map (along with some images), to make an effective document appendix.

Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Donald in Cleveland, OH
Today we started by recapping our previous tutoring session in order to recall information retained and reteach (quickly) the subjects that needed strengthening. The student has already made a lot of progress from last session and although economics is a difficult subject I know we can make the necessary progress to get her where she needs to be. The topics we covered today were the effects of taxation on the supplier/consumer in graphical and practical scenarios. We came up with a topic list for what we need to cover in the three sessions before her next exam. We spent a lot of time on the aggregate production formula with several graphical and real life examples. Next session we plan to cover opportunity costs and review the topics we've already covered.

We reviewed the student's upcoming practice exam focusing on the note sheet he will be able to bring with him. I stressed the importance of notating formulas that are always true rather than the sample formulas given in the specific problem. We also reviewed the conceptual/verbal problems and talked about how in discussing profitability and revenue he should always address both price and cost.

Today we continued with the discussion of Consumer Behavior Theory. We discussed changes in factors in the Indifference curves. We also went over how changes in factors such as price affect changes in consumer behavior, both within the perfect world and in the real world. Worked on sample quiz questions to prepare him for his upcoming exam.
