Welcome! So you are interested in joining the ABA community? It's tough but incredibly rewarding! Congrats on making it to this point in your journey!
In this field, it's about quality of experience. I am a lifelong learner but here are some things you may be looking for in your tutor's background:
My master's is in Special Education with an emphasis on Applied Behavior Analysis.
Before I earned my four letters as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I completed my experience hours with school-age to adult residential and community individuals with high-intensity unsafe behaviors.
I also have experience with early intervention in the clinical setting.
My experience encompasses teaching various adaptive, social, and academic skills to young children, teens, young adults, and older adults using a trauma-informed approach. I have experience in the school, home, clinic, and community settings. I maintain a caseload for my day job and supervise as well. I currently consult with the public sector with various disabilities, and behavior intensities by conducting assessments and providing evidence-based recommendations, and training.
I support with strategies to address off-task behaviors, organization and sorting skills, and other skills needed in daily life, school, or on the job. I work with individuals who struggle with the daily everyday demands of school and home expectations through helping individuals advocate safely, and set their goals and rules that sustain safety and promote learning. I am passionate about teaching and working with others I have experience with parent training, group home staff training, teacher training, behavior tech training, and supervisee training.
Additionally, I am currently providing supervision for BCBA students who are studying to become BCBA's, tutoring on ABA concepts, and I have experience teaching ABA concepts to help disseminate the information in preparation for their BCBA/BCaBA exam.
Fun fact! I am also fluent in German! I grew up a portion of my life in Germany, speaking the language from an early age. I do offer conversational German sessions.
I love animals and I am a parent of neurodivergent children who also have IEPs.
During sessions, it is a learning and welcoming environment where my focus is engaging in the given area. I look forward to meeting future students!
