My objective as a tutor is to deliver maximum life-long values: conceptual understanding, a rekindled love for learning, confidence, genuine self-esteem, and friendship. I deliver these by focusing on conceptual understanding. Most difficulties with the current materials come from not having mastered the earlier concepts or skills. I locate these earlier misunderstandings by asking questions like, "Walk me through this problem and explain your thought process" or "How are you thinking about this problem?" It's normal to get confused responses to these questions, but whatever response is offered, I can dig deeper by asking additional questions. Upon finding underlying areas that are not understood, I deliver focused learning experiences designed to quickly, easily, and enjoyably bring about conceptual understanding. I can off these kinds of mini-lessons immediately and without additional preparation because I myself have conceptual mastery of nearly the entire math and physics curricula from elementary through the first 4 years of college. When I am not tutoring: I am seeking employment in the medical device and aerospace industries as a Quality Engineer or Reliability Engineer, creating heart and mind expanding experiences for my wife and daughters, supporting my daughter's acting career and rigorous talent development programs, reading for learning or pleasure, authoring heart and mind expanding books, engaging in aggressive personal development, exploring the fullness of what life has to offer, laughing, learning, and creating values for the world.

Math is my specialty when it comes to teaching or tutoring, but I have also been trained in techniques for tutoring all subjects included in standardized tests, especially the SAT.My tutoring style comes from my firm belief that a student will grow when they genuinely have their interest piqued, and the best way to do that is for their instructor to genuinely show passion and interest in the subject in order to pass that excitement on to their students.

I believe that every student is capable of conquering any academic goal they may have; we all need a little assistance along the journey of making our dreams a reality!I am a recent graduate of the University of Georgia where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Biology. Last year, I continued my training in the sciences by earning a Master's degree in Pre- Clinical Science from Mercer University School of Medicine. I am currently in the process of applying to medical school while teaching at Wesley International School's Generation Infocus after-school program.

My name is Alex and I am a proud and recent graduate of Rice University where I received my Master's in Environmental Science with a heavy focus on Environmental Statistics. Before this I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I received my Bachelor's degrees in Geography and Humanities.Having been exposed to an eclectic background of liberal arts and hard science I am comfortable tutoring across a broad range of subjects and encourage students to see the inherent connections between their work and real-world applications.Despite my technical background, I am a person who would much rather contemplate the words in a good book rather than the letters of a differential equation. However, my interest in studying the natural world has caused me to suffer through more math classes than I care to count. As a result, I am well-equipped to help 'math-shy' students understand, appreciate, and flourish in a subject that they may have previously disliked.I believe in forging a relationship between the student and the subject matter with the idea being able to answer the question "when will I ever need to know this?" is the first step to understanding.Currently, I live in Houston with my bride, Nathalie, and our great big black lab, affectionately know as "The Bear". I love being out-of-doors in any capacity and am an avid soccer-player, swimmer, and cyclist.

I am a graduate from Banca Institute in Puerto Rico where I focused on an administration assistant degree. I have also successfully taken the ParaPro exam from Seminole County Public Schools, which measures reading, writing, and math skills. I have eleven years of experience working as a tutor and assistant at a Charter School. Throughout this time, I was responsible for assisting students in the subjects of math, reading, and science in the form of daily pull-out sessions. Additionally, I actively partook in the classroom by working alongside the teacher, adding to the classroom discussions and working with groups of struggling students during the class. I have extensive experience with preparing students for standardized tests and have seen significant gains in the students that I have tutored. I enjoy and feel confident tutoring science, reading, and math, but feel the most confident with reading and math and have the most experience in these areas. I have seen the momentous impact that working one-on-one can have on students in these subject areas and it is always satisfying sharing the “I got it” moment with students. Outside of the classroom, I revised and reorganized extracurricular programs such as the Safety Patrol Program and have learned throughout these experiences the importance of life outside of the classroom. I strive to not only help students with the academic areas that they may be struggling with, but to also be a mentor if necessary. In my spare time, I greatly enjoy gardening and seeing the produce after long days of hard work. I also find time to follow NASCAR races and cheer for my favorite drivers.

I am a current sophomore in my undergraduate career at the University of Minnesota and I have been tutoring students for 5 years. I am passionate about working with others and making them excited to learn and seeing them grow! I tutor in a variety of math, english, ACT prep, russian, and spanish courses, and I would love to work with you! I have been speaking russian and spanish since I was 5, and I was in a secondary math and reading program from a young age as well, which allowed me to succeed academically. My teaching style emphasizes compassion and patience, because I have been a student in a tutoring center myself, and I know how stressful it can get at times! I also believe that learning should make students feel proud of themselves and make them excited, which is my main goal. In my time away from tutoring, I help with psychology lab research, I try to travel when I am able, and I love to work out!

I am a senior at Boston University working toward a Bachelor of Arts in biology with a specialization in behavior. This past winter, I studied tropical ecology in Ecuador for four months and one of those months was at a research station in the Amazon rainforest. Aside from my field studies, I have interned at several zoos and aquariums, including Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, with a wide range of species and with the mission of using education to improve the relationship between people and the animals with which we share our planet. I am most passionate about ecology, life sciences, and psychology, but I believe that a well-rounded education is incredibly important and that any subject can be made applicable to any interest.A fair combination of hard work and fun is my standard for life and for teaching. I like to help students use their strengths to help balance and improve weaknesses. As a previously anxious test-taker myself, I know firsthand how challenging standardized testing can be, but I can share valuable strategies to help a student reach his or her full potential. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the cello and singing, hiking, kayaking, cooking, and practicing American Sign Language.

I am a graduate of Albright College where I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a co-concentration in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. While at Albright, I was deeply involved with Academic Learning Center's tutoring program. I accumulated over 500 hours tutoring my peers in their college Math courses. I tutored mainly Calculus, but I also had the opportunity to train and mentor other new tutors. I helped them learn the importance of study skills, learning styles, and communication so they could more effectively help the students they tutored. Math has always been my favorite subject to tutor because I love helping students build their foundation in whatever course they are taking to help them be successful. I have always been fascinated by the way different topics in Math are intertwined. In my spare time, I love to do all types of crafts, especially knitting. I also enjoy baking decorative cakes and cupcakes and reading.
