Calculus Tutoring review by Ashleigh in Centennial, CO
He wanted to work on what is currently going on in his class. He is working on differentiation of logarithmic functions. We took the time to review a lot of calculus concepts and using algebra techniques to simplify answers. We worked on basic differentiation, implicit differentiation, second derivatives, and finding the slopes of tangent lines. He seemed very comfortable with the material at the end of the session and should continue to work on using the formulas properly and memorizing them.

The student is starting to learn integration, and wanted my help nailing down some of the concepts. In the first section we looked at, she was using rectangles to estimate the area under the curve. After a brief explanation of the concept, she found this to be very easy and completed the homework for the section with no trouble. After that, we looked at a section dealing with integration by substitution. We discussed how to determine what should be used as u in the substitution, and did a few practice problems.
