How can Biology tutoring help you?

Biology is the study of living systems and the commonalities found between all organisms. The study focuses on not only the internal workings of living organisms but also how their ecosystems and systems rely on other life. Mastering biology involves being able to look at the big picture and see the connections as well as noticing the commonalities in the minute details. Learning biology requires a large amount of memorization and understanding of compound ideas that continue to build on one another. If you've been struggling to understand your course, then working with a tutor may be an excellent idea. The Varsity Tutors educational directors can help you locate a Washington, D.C., biology tutor who can work through biology work with you.

Learning biology in the classroom means that you may be going over step after step of natural processes like cellular respiration and DNA replication. Fully wrapping your mind around these processes and remembering all of the information you are told in such a short period of time can be very difficult, especially for students who do not learn best with the teaching method their instructor uses. A personal biology tutor in Washington, D.C., can revisit information that you've learned in class. No matter your preferred learning style, your tutor can teach you the material in the way you learn best as you work through the material. If diagrams or videos help you remember the concepts better, then the tutor can implement these tools into your sessions. Your tutor's goal is to help you learn information that can stick with you all the way to test day.

Today we went over genetics, Gregory Mendel and his experiments, dominance, probabilities, Punnett squares, and variations in inheritance (incomplete dominance, co-dominance, etc.). The student seems to grasp these concepts pretty well. She got a B on her past test, which is an improvement. She made minor mistakes that she understands.

The student and I covered 3 subjects for his postponed biology exam. We reviewed meiosis, plant reproduction, and animal reproduction. He was very well-prepared. He did a great job staying sharp and prepared for this new exam. I quizzed him further and provided some details to fill gaps in his knowledge, primarily regarding reproduction.

Today was a great day - our best tutoring appointment so far! It was a "2 high five" session! Topics covered: diffusion, osmosis, water balance, passive transport, transport proteins, and active transport. We covered 1/2 half of chapter 5. I asked him to be ready to review the second 1/2 of chapter 5, and to be prepared for a quiz during our next study session on all of chapter 4. He also has a lab to turn in tomorrow that he said he will finish at home. Great session - and looking forward to helping him get ready for his unit test.
