Anatomy Tutoring review by Abigail in Coral Springs, FL
The student is doing a mini-unit on climate change this week, so we got a jump on next week's topic, the cell cycle. We discussed the components of the cytoskeleton and their role in cell division, the difference between mitosis and cytokinesis, and the binary fission in prokaryotes. We went in depth into the stages of mitosis and somewhat into stages of the cell cycle and cell cycle control.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Haruka in Coral Springs, FL
We covered the characteristics of prokaryotes, including the differences between archaea and eubacteria. We discussed the role of genetic research advances on the classification of archaea and bacteria and the numerous organismal kingdoms. We also went over the role of bacteria in the marine ecosystem, including the different ways bacteria obtain nutrients and symbiosis within bacteria and other marine life. We also went a little ahead for next week, and covered a little bit about marine protists. The student seemed to have fun learning about these topics, and it was good to hear that this wasn't a waste of time because he enjoyed the material and thought it was fascinating. It was an excellent first session.

Today the student and I worked on molecular bonding orbitals as a function of increasing atomic number. We began with hydrogen and worked up to bromine and xenon. We used molecular orbital notation and Aufbau diagrams to communicate the concept.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Rachel in Coral Springs, FL
We reviewed a test question on static friction first, then moved to problems on circular motion. It is often difficult to make free-body diagrams and figure out the forces for circular motion, since the normal forces are hard to solve for. So it is usually best in general physics to use the pre-derived equations unless something else is going on. I need to email the student about the last problem we worked on -- range of a slingshot projectile.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Colin in Coral Springs, FL
We covered gluconeogenesis, glycogenesis, and glycogenolysis, including intermediates, enzymes, etc. The student was very engaged, attentive, and well prepared, and the majority of our time was spent solidifying concepts and unpacking complicated structures/pathways. We planned a subsequent session to cover material we did not get to this time.
