As a non-heritage speaker, I understand all the difficulties that students may have in acquiring the language (I've been there) and I have the tools / tricks to make my students successful. I am a psychology professor at Houston Community College in Houston, Texas. I received my Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Psychology in Bratislava/Slovakia, European union. My teaching career started as an adjunct psychology professor, and I later became a full-time Visiting Faculty (Psychology) at Houston Community College. I have experience teaching and counseling students from a variety of cultural, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds, international students, current and former military personnel, transgender students, and students with disabilities. My main teaching goal is to present the material in such way where the students will find the information relevant in their own life. I achieve participation through student-centered approach I incorporate in each of my classes. I have been teaching and tutoring General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and English as a second language.In my free time, I play volleyball, I like working-out, reading books and traveling.

My love for learning is the reason why I chose to become an educator. I remember having great teachers push me to improve, and I want to do the same for every student I encounter. I have a Masters in Elementary Education and over 7 years of experience.

I'm currently in my final semester of a Master's program at The College of Saint Rose, where I am becoming certified in English Language Arts and Special Education for students in grades 7-12. I have worked as a substitute teacher throughout college, and have recently completed an internship in a middle school Resource Room setting.I specialize in tutoring all English subjects, including the writing process, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and grammar, at all academic levels from elementary school through college. I am a graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law in North Carolina where I obtained my Juris Doctorate Degree. I also received an bachelor's degree in communications from Brigham Young University. I greatly enjoy working with students who are trying to improve their academic performance. I have previously instructed online developmental writing courses for adults seeking to return to college and sought to improve their writing skills. I believe strongly that everyone has the talent needed to write and express themselves but that they need to learn how to structure and organize their writing so that their ideas can flow. For standardized testing I believe the most important factor in success is becoming comfortable with the test itself; learning the common ways the test makers misdirect a student’s attention and how to properly break down a problem. Outside of the classroom I have a great interest in film; I own hundreds of movies from various genres, eras, and countries. I also write fiction in my spare time.

I am a process chemist and chemical engineer with over a dozen years working in the chemical industry for companies like ExxonMobil and Shell. I graduated from Caltech with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering. While at Caltech, I discovered my love for chemistry, so I decided to shift to chemistry for graduate school. That is why I earned a Ph.D. in chemistry at UC Berkeley: because I think chemistry is fun. While some would consider Caltech and UC Berkeley to be "elite" schools based on their rankings, I am no elitist. I think everyone should have the opportunity to get the best education they possibly can, and tutoring (with me, of course) is an efficient, cost-effective way to help make it happen.I love to teach folks science and math, especially chemistry. I live for the moments when I guide someone through a subject until something "clicks" in their mind. Learning science is learning how to see the world around us with fresh eyes. For example, after studying thermodynamics at Caltech, I started thinking about every day phenomena from an analytical standpoint: things like boiling a pot of water or washing something in soapy water suddenly became much more interesting.I have three semesters of experience as a TA/graduate student instructor: one semester teaching organic chemistry and two teaching the graduate-level X-ray crystallography course. While at ExxonMobil, I led several chemistry-related training courses for technical folks like engineers and other chemists.Sometimes I can get a little animated when I'm interested in the subject matter. Excitement can be contagious, and I find students are a little more engaged when I nerd out about the lesson of the day.

I am a graduate of The United States Institute of Language and Clerical Studies. I received my Bachelor of Doctrines and Methodology of Education with a focus on education. I have a major in Education and I have a minor in Counseling. I also have an Advanced Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (120 Hour Advanced TESOL) from MEU. Since graduation, I have taught well over 400 students of various ages English. Teaching is something that I have been very passionate about ever since I was little. For well over 10 years I have been a volunteer Bible teacher. When I was a teenager, I tutored in-person English, reading, as well as other school subjects in Deposit, NY. After that, I worked for 3 years at a special needs school working one-on-one and in groups with children and teenagers of various abilities helping them with Math, English, Art, and Gym class in Binghamton, NY. All of this training has helped me learn patience, kindness, and fairness. I believe in taking an active interest in my students and treating them as individuals. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and exploring new places. I love going on adventures and making new friends.
