My name is Kelsey and I am an energetic, positive, 26-year-old teacher who graduated with my MFA from the University of Notre Dame in 2017. I am currently teaching Second Grade, but have extensive and varied teaching experience, having taught students of all ages, even university level! I also have experience working with students with behavior and learning differences. It is my goal to make all of my students feel encouraged, heard, motivated, and successful.

It feels wonderful to be able to teach and mentor others. I believe education is the way to success and I wish for the success of all. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology at California State University, Sacramento. From there, I began working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other intellectual/developmental disabilities. I earned my Masters degree at University of the Pacific in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis. While there, I taught research methods and statistics at the undergraduate level for 2 years. I am now finishing my PhD in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. I have completed several research projects, published research, and co-written chapters in books. Clinically, I have taught parents in several behavior strategies to help decrease their child's problem behaviors and increase acquisition of skills. I have worked with children as young as one and adults as spritely as 65. I am happy to tutor a variety of subjects (e.g., math, English, and general study/organization skills). I am determined to see a smile at every session! Additionally, I expect everyone is feeling more confident by the end than when they started. Confidence is key! I love teaching my children to be curious and confident. When I am not teaching or playing with my children, I love to read, watch Marvel or Disney movies, ride roller coasters, and go on camping/fishing trips.

Hello! I am passionate about education and love teaching young students. I have recently taken a leave of absence from teaching 2nd grade, after the birth of my daughter. I believe students learn the best when they are part of the process, meeting their needs where they are at. With how schooling has been the past 2 years, I double down on this statement. A student learns best when met at their level and then supported from there. I like to incorporate social & emotional learning where and when I am able. The student has to have their basic needs met, prior to being ready to absorb and attain curriculum. I am excited to work on this platform and continue reaching learners.

I am a current college freshman attending University of Houston in Houston, TX. I believe I am uniquely qualified to tutor students because the experience of high school is still fresh in my mind. I have gone through many AP credit classes and have taken standardized testing like AP, PSAT, SAT, and ACT as recently as a year ago. I am currently honing my tutoring skills by volunteering my time to tutor juniors SAT prep 6 hours a week. On this platform, I am open to tutoring students in AP subject areas like World History, Language and Composition, Literature and Composition, and Latin, but I am most interested in tutoring students in the SAT and ACT because of the influence that they have in college admission and scholarship processes. My goal is to help students achieve high scores in these standardized tests to pave the way towards their future.

Upon graduating, I became a tutor at the university's Center for Academic Achievement. Following that, I earned a certificate to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the Boston Language Institute. I then transitioned to EF International, an internationally renowned language academy. Using this experience, I moved to South Korea to teach English as language for over two years. While there, I published a book, wrote a theatrical play, acted for the screen and stage, and was also a radio personality.With the years of experience I have accumulated in front of the class, working one on one, as well as in front of the stage and camera, working with me is the best way to achieve your academic goals.

Having completed my BA in economics with highest honors at SUNY's University at Buffalo, I am now entering my second year of the economics PhD program at UB. Since I entered the program, I've had many opportunities to build my teaching/tutoring skills as a graduate teaching assistant.My expertise lies in applied microeconomics, my intended research field, but I have TA'd for both undergraduate and graduate level macroeconomics, microeconomics, and econometrics.Holding office hours and teaching recitations in the above topics have not only strengthened my personal understanding of the material, but also has prepared me for tutoring outside of the university.I always try my best to provide students with tools to apply in future situations, not just solve a particular problem once.

At the latter, I earned my Master of Arts in German. I also completed the Teachers for Secondary Schools Program at the University of Southern Maine. As a life-long learner myself, I am passionate about learning and teaching. It is with great personal satisfaction that I have been able to help many students reach their personal goals. In my work with high school students, I have been successful in preparing them to excel in History or German in college. Many of my adult learners have been faced with the daunting experience of having to relocate to a German-speaking country and I have prepared them to thrive in a new culture with a new language. Regardless of the subject that I teach or tutor, I believe in a direct, hands-on approach that actively engages the students' interests, helping them build self-confidence, while steadily improving their skills and knowledge. As I have lived in Europe and have traveled extensively in several parts of Europe, both European History and German Language and Culture are my favorite subjects to share with students. I have 4+ years of teaching experience with middle and high school age students, particularly in math (from geometry to calculus). I've also worked as a volunteer clarinet tutor and math tutor for four years. Through my experience, I've developed a teaching style emphasizes depth over rote memorization, effective exercises over drill worksheets, and mental shortcuts whenever possible.Outside of academics, I am a musician and composer and have freelanced in concerts and on media projects. I spend a great deal of my clinical time with patients educating them. I have also been a preceptor for RN and NP students.
