What's covered in Albuquerque ACT preparation?
No matter what preparation option you ultimately decide on pursuing, the content of your study sessions will be based on the content of the ACT. In that way, it's useful to spend some time learning about what you'll actually be tested on while taking the ACT. The exam has required sections on the topics of Math, Reading, English, and Science. You can also decide whether or not you want to complete an optional Writing section. If you do decide to complete the Writing section, you'll have 3 hours and 35 minutes to finish your test. Otherwise, you'll only have 2 hours and 55 minutes to complete it.
The ACT's Math section covers many of the most important math topics that you would've likely studied while in high school. It features 60 multiple-choice questions and has a time limit of 60 minutes. To do well on this part of the ACT, you'll need to have a strong skill set in topics like pre-algebra, coordinate and plane geometry, trigonometry, and intermediate algebra, among other things.
The test's Reading section features 40 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 35 minutes. You'll be tested on your reading comprehension skill set. The test section asks you to read through a series of dense passages of writing. Then, you'll need to show that you understand what's important about these passages by answering the multiple-choice questions you're presented with. It's important to be able to identify central themes, summarize ideas, differentiate between facts and opinions, and make connections between different texts on this part of the ACT.
Third, the English section tests a student's knowledge of language skills and measures their understanding of core topics in English. On this ACT section, you'll be given 45 minutes to answer 75 multiple-choice questions. Varsity Tutors would be happy to help you prepare for the English section of the ACT if you're concerned about how well you'll do on it.
Next, comes the ACT's section on Science. Here, you'll need to show your knowledge of subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and earth and space sciences. You'll want to be able to manipulate and analyze scientific data and use the scientific method and other tools to problem-solve.
The last section of the ACT is its optional Writing section. This part of the exam differs from the others in that it features no multiple-choice questions. Instead, you'll be shown a prompt and then you'll have 40 minutes to write an essay about the topic that you've been given. You will be graded on the strength of your writing on this part of the exam.
