I was awarded two of the most prestigious graduate research fellowships in Anthropology for my dissertation research, and have received numerous awards for my academic work as well as my fiction writing and poetry. ...things I enjoy most is watching people learn and helping to facilitate the process of learning. So many good things happen when a student develops an understanding of something new, academic or otherwise. Learning always involves closing the gap between where a student is and where they want to be. A teacher, or tutor, needs to know the steps that are involved in closing this gap. This takes creativity, which is what makes the process...

...and have bearing on what students know about their lives. This requires me to get to know my students, their likes and dislikes. I believe students should be respected for who they are and not belittled. I don't believe anyone should be forced to conform to a system arbitrarily or unnecessarily. It is okay not to fit inside a box. Students should be welcomed into learning, rather than cut down for what they don't know....

I love teaching others about my favorite subjects. I'm especially passionate about math and science and work in a research lab at Oregon Health and Sciences University. I love helping students do well on tests such as the ACT, SAT, SSAT and the HSPT especially. I am attending Johns Hopkins University and majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
