Session Summaries by Accounting Tutors

Accounting Tutoring review by Amy in Johns Creek, GA
The student and I worked on her brochure for Lord of the Flies, and began outlining her paper on the novel.  We came up with the symbolic items from the book, and the student is going to work on finding quotes to support the symbolism for the next time we meet.

Accounting Tutoring review by Natalie in Johns Creek, GA
The student and I did both science and math. For science we went over the people that she had information on for the test on Thursday. For math, we discussed measurement and word problems. She did a great job on measurement of centimeters, millimeters, and inches. The last fifteen minutes she challenged me and her cousins to a multiplication card game. She did great! She was able to multiply two digit by two digit without problems. She won against her cousin that is in her class. I was so proud of her.

Accounting Tutoring review by Samantha in Johns Creek, GA
The student and I focused on working through problems in practice.    He gets the majority of the problems right and can usually fix his mistakes once prompted.    He sometimes fails to  read the question carefully and answering what is asked.  I  am trying to get him in the habit of showing all his work and writing the word problems as numbers so that he can go back and check everything easily.

Accounting Tutoring review by Stuart in Johns Creek, GA
We started the session covering quadratic formulas and word problems. I showed the student how to set up a quadratic equation and how to identify when he needs to use a quadratic formula. After that we covered finding x and y intercepts through word problems, and reviewed the formula for the slope of a line. The focus through the session remained on word problems, so I also covered how to break down a word problem and identify the useful information versus the extraneous information.

Accounting Tutoring review by Elnora in Johns Creek, GA
The student and I had a great initial session that was also productive. He first discussed how his class is reviewing previous material, and this has given him the opportunity to also review the concepts again. We focused on problems from chapter 3 of his textbook, and covered questions involving adjustments to reflect the usage of supplies, depreciation expense and accumulated depreciation, prepaid insurance and insurance expense, additional adjustments related to the recognition of accounts receivable and service revenue, salaries expense and payables, unearned rent revenue and rent revenue, and one more problem that included an interest accrual example. He completed several of these problems successfully. In addition, we worked through the formation of an income statement, statement of owner's capital, and balance sheet given adjusted trial balance information.
