I believe the role of a professor is to "help students learn", rather than the old idea of merely "to teach." Student success and outcomes are the most important element of classroom activities, in-person, remote, collectively or individually. An instructor must make the subject matter interesting and insure student learning! I am a professional historian with more than two decades of teaching experience in history and political science in two- and four-year institutions of higher learning in the Greater Washington DC area, I also have a dozen years experience working with and training K-12 teachers in social studies. I have devoted my career to helping student learn history both for academic success and to become better citizens. I can tailor tutoring activities to "meet students where they are" in terms of knowledge and skills, and work with students to improve both and help them meet their learning goals.
