I received my Associates Degree from Davidson County Community College in May of 2006. I completed my BSN at Appalachian State University in December or 2013 and then returned to school to complete my Masters in Nursing Education in December 2019. My plan is to eventually return to school to obtain my Doctorate of Nursing Practice. I'm certified in Medical-Surgical nursing, Maternal-Newborn Nursing and I am a lactation educator.

Since first graduating nursing school I have been a bedside nurse on medical-surgical units, labor and delivery, ante-partum, post-partum, newborn nursery, GYN and pediatrics. I have also been a travel nurse, telephone triage nurse and a nursing educator. I've also tutored and assisted other nurses with classes to advance their education. I have tutored in statistics, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology and pathophysiology. I have also assisted students with test taking strategies to assist with testing skills and test anxiety. I'm passionate about assisting all types of students. The moment when I'm able to explain something in a way they understand and that "lightbulb" moment occurs is one of the best feelings in the world.

I'm able to tutor in most sciences and maths, as well as nursing specific courses. I also can tutor for test prep, psychology, sociology, and behavioral sciences. My favorite subjects to tutor is math and nursing specific courses.

My teaching philosophy is that with the right steps in place, you are able to learn anything you desire. While it may take more work for one student more than another, its important to know each student is an individual and working together with the student to see what works and what doesn't having open communication is key to a successful tutoring relationship. As a tutor, I aim to be open minded and willing to think outside the box to find a process that will achieve the goals that students want.j

I am a mom with 4 small children so most of my spare time includes playing with dinosaurs, power rangers and building puzzles. When I have some time for me I enjoy reading and being crafty and artistic. I also enjoy building puzzles for myself. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and a bit of a movie and music buff.

My hope is that I am able to be a positive impact the life's of others. Everything I do and in all my interactions, this is what I strive for.
