I graduated last year from Poolesville High School as part of the Global Ecology Magnet Program. Right now, I am currently working to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in General Biology at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have past experience working with children at different summer camps. And, in high school, I was part of a club that created tutoring videos specifically tailored to students taking difficult courses at Poolesville High School. I can tutor multiple subjects, including math, biology, and environmental science. But, my favorite subject to tutor is biology, or anything science related. My philosophy, particularly for subjects relating to science, is that if someone can fully explain the concept in words, without looking at notes, then they can do good on any examination testing the understanding of that concept. Based on this philosophy, I think that the best way to teach is to create a more interactive form of learning, where both tutor and student are actively involved in the process. I like to teach using a lot of visuals, because I think that they tend to be more easily retained than just words. I also like to use a lot of examples, so that students understand the real world applications of different concepts, and they can not only do well on exams, but can also use that knowledge in the future.
Aside from tutoring and academics, I love to do any sort of outdoor activity. I really love playing soccer, hiking, and walking my dog. I love the feeling of being outside on an adventure and having fun.
