I am a PhD student at the Pennsylvania State University and have transitioned to working at a government laboratory in the Baltimore area to finish my dissertation research. As a dual undergraduate student in aerospace engineering and physics, I worked as a tutor for both the university and for a private company. While initially I was simply seeking a little extra money to get by, I quickly found how rewarding and beneficial tutoring can be. It is a truly wonderful feeling to work with a student who is doing poorly in a course or having a difficult time understanding particular concepts but has a determination to succeed and watch them progress with each tutoring session. From a personal standpoint, tutoring allows me to gain a much deeper understand of particular topics which allows me to see different perspectives on both tutoring future students and in my own research.
