What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to immerse students in practical learning experiences.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the student's interests and goals.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can teach them the study skills they need for self-directed study.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would provide milestones and a full goal plan with incremental steps in that process.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would teach them in a more practical way.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I would ask them to write about what they just read.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I have found that practical learning examples are most successful.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would relate it back to something they enjoy.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would quiz them on the material.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I would review the material with them regularly and provide encouragement.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I learn where they are struggling and how they have progressed, according to our project plan.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I understand different students have different needs, so I would teach accordingly.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I typically use videos, case studies, and, sometimes, I will use the questions in the textbook.
