After seven years of biomedical cancer research, I feel my science and research background will be extremely helpful in teaching students. I will be graduating Abilene Christian University this May with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. My mother has been a science teacher for her whole career. I feel I have learned from her great ways to teach complex subjects. I also earned perfect writing scores on my SAT and GRE. I would love to tutor in writing and reading, hopefully helping students achieve their own personal scores. I have experience working with children, ranging from first grade to rising college freshman. I want to see whomever I am helping succeed and feel that with my education and experience I can accomplish that.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy will be tailored to the student. If they are more of a kinesthetic learner, we'll do more hands on activities. If they learn better with analogies, we'll use analogies. I also feel that teaching the subject is an extremely useful way to learn a subject, so having the student explain a topic to me will help them significantly. I am also a large proponent of helping the students understand why something is the way it is, rather than just memorizing it. I feel that will help with both remembering the topic and will help the student find interest in the topic.
