Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Learning naturally occurs in a supportive environment that encourages creativity. Everybody has the capacity to learn and achieve goals; they just need to be inspired and motivated to do so. Teaching provides this nurturing environment and guidance that allows each individual to tap into their own creativity to learn.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I will create a dialogue with the student where I learn his/her intentions and goals. I will assess the student to see what the student needs to learn to reach those goals.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help a student become an independent learner by teaching them how to tap into their own inner teacher.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will motivate a student by finding out their passions, their likes and dislikes, and goals.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I will try use all modalities in teaching the skill/concept, discuss the point of understanding/confusion with student, and break down the concept into basic parts. Once the student masters the first basic part, I will teach the next basic part and continue to build on each subsequent part, until the student has mastered all parts and can then integrate them into an understanding of the larger concept.
