As a University of Washington Bachelor of Environmental Science graduate, I’ve experienced the struggle to master difficult subjects in order to bask in the shear joy of what Judith Sargent Murray termed, “the flowery paths of science”. I have participated in several interesting biological research projects, and plan on a master’s degree in the future. My favorite academic subjects to tutor are biology and writing. I have also worked as a professional high school essay scorer, so am uniquely suited to assist students in improved performance on standardized essays. I love to distill central ideas and then be able to explain, “It’s simple, really!” My tutoring philosophy is straightforward: when the subject is interesting, the work becomes fun.
In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors, animals, and volunteer work spent teaching students about marine invertebrates in the Puget Sound.
