Greetings! For the past nine years, I have taught high school English, including AP English Language and AP English Literature. Furthermore, I have served as an associate and head coach for a state champion Academic Decathlon team, which has given me additional experience in test preparation strategy across several content areas. In addition to AP English and Academic Decathlon exams, I have helped students prepare for SAT and ACT exams.

Before teaching, I tutored students one-on-one and in small groups across subject areas. My strongest subjects for tutoring are English, mathematics (through AP Calculus AB but not statistics), history/social studies, Spanish (through AP), and basic biology and chemistry. Throughout my teaching experience, especially through Academic Decathlon, I have kept my skills sharp across these subject areas.

I graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a B.A. in English. By far my best collegiate experience was a one-month travel study program focusing on Shakespeare. We read, discussed, and watched six plays and had the chance to discuss creative choices with actors, costume designers, and other artists from the Royal Shakespeare Company.

I love education, and I hope to share some of that enthusiasm with you.

Hobbies

I'm an avid reader across genres, though I read more fiction than nonfiction. I'm also an avid moviegoer, one of vanishingly few AMC Stubs A-Listers. I see as many movies as I can. I'm also a runner: I completed my second marathon in 2023 and am working on training for the next one. I also love being in the kitchen: I cook and bake all the time. I got into sourdough bread in 2018 and have been nurturing the same starter ever since. I named her Audrey II after the always-hungry plant in Little Shop of Horrors. Finally, I'm addicted to podcasts, but please don't recommend any to me right now. I already have more subscriptions than I can keep up with!
