Greetings! I am a high school English teacher. After teaching for several years in Spring Branch ISD, I now teach in Friendswood ISD. I have taught grades 911 in on-level, PreAP, and AP courses and have served students across a wide range of backgrounds and needs.
Prior to becoming a full-time teacher, I worked as a private tutor for five years. Though my educational background and professional certification are in English, I have enjoyed great success with students in many subject areas beyond English, not limited to but including math (through AP Calculus), science (biology, chemistry, and physics), Spanish (through AP Spanish Language). I also have a great deal of experience helping students prepare for such standardized tests as STAAR, SAT (including subject tests), ACT, and AP. In my first position for a tutoring company back in my hometown near Los Angeles, I helped develop the curriculum for a full SAT course and taught several five- to six-week intensive SAT prep courses to high school students.
Outside of tutoring, I also held a summer position with the Institute of Reading Development, teaching reading courses to students ranging in age from pre-K to 60.
As mentioned, my educational background is in English. I earned my B.A. in English from UCLA, specializing in Shakespeare.
Education is where my heart isI am a passionate lifelong learner and dedicated teacher and continue to tutor on a part-time basis.
When I am not teaching or tutoring, I am usually grading, reading, baking, or, during holidays, traveling.
