My passion is to utilize my education and experiences to help others.

While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English literature, writing and composition, psychology, and conversational Spanish. I am a graduate of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, FL. There, I received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus on English literature and a Master of Arts in English with a focus on writing, rhetoric, and composition. While at FAU, I worked at the writing center, helping students, faculty, alumni, and visiting scholars improve their writing and language skills. Simultaneously, I taught college writing courses for FAU's College of Arts and Letter's Department of English while completing several writing internships, attending national conferences, and taking advantage of study abroad opportunities. I had the opportunity to work extensively with ESL students. Given that FAU is one of the most diverse institutions in the nation and that I am a native Spanish speaker who immigrated to the United States as a young child, these experiences helped me feel even more connected to my language and culture. I've always believed that theory and practice are equally vital to a strong intellectual foundation. So, while I worked toward earning both degrees, I coupled my practical teaching and tutoring experience with additional courses from the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literature. I've worked with many students struggling with standardized tests, academic essays, graduate school applications, and learning either English or Spanish as a second language. We always seem to have the most fun (and make the most progress) when we focus on the writing and critical reading portions of the exams or assignments, employing real-life scenarios in the process.

I am currently working on my Master's degree in Education. My area of specialization is Biology. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University. I have been teaching since 2010 on a simple philosophy: No matter how complex a topic is, it is possible to simplify it to a level where anyone can understand it fully. My passion is to break down complex topics into simpler ones. I am a strong believer of Bruner's Spiral Curriculum. This particular methodology is composed of three parts. They are: revisiting a topic/subject area frequently, increasing the complexity of the topic with each revisit, and learning to relate previous knowledge with the new one. Following this model, students can learn more effectively and retain most of the information and use that in the future. Being multilingual has helped me tremendously to assist students who native language is not English. Being able to speak three languages helps me interact with my students more effectively. Coming from a country from South-East Asia gives me the multicultural background that teaches me to be tolerant, respectful, and patient to all individuals. I believe that patience is the single most important criterion that an educator should possess.

As an experienced teacher, I believe that all students, given the right encouragement and guidance, are capable of learning; and it is my responsibility to provide a safe and productive learning environment for their successful achievement.

I have a PhD in STEM Education from The Ohio State University. I also have a masters in Learning Technologies from OSU and a Mathematics for Educators from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Math is incredibly fun for me to teach, I've always been that friend who worked with fellow peers during High School, and even in College would help other students with the Math problems we were given immediately after class outside the room. This experience has helped me know how to connect new concepts and old concepts to help others learn best!

As a certified teacher with 20 plus years of teaching experience, I consider myself a lifelong learner. I began my academic career shortly after graduating from high school and received my Associate in Science degree in Court Reporting Technology in 1992. After working with the Civil and Criminal court systems in Miami. I quickly knew I wanted more growth in my college academics and began diligently pursuing my calling to teach! I continued at Miami Dade College and upgraded my AS degree to an Associate in Arts degree, graduating in 1998. This would open the doors to getting into Florida Atlantic University. At FAU, I worked on my undergraduate degree in Psychology, and graduated in 2004. While attending classes at FAU, I taught in the classrooms with the public-school systems. With much faith, perseverance, and a steadfast attitude, I continued to pursue my calling to teach, I became a certified teacher, and attended graduate school! I am a successful graduate of the Inaugural class with a Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in Early and Middle Childhood Education, from the Adrian Dominican School of Education at Barry University. I proudly graduated Suma Cum Laude in 2013 from Barry University. I stayed teaching in the Public School system for approximately 10 + years. I left with the desire to experience different academic arenas, which I have successfully accomplished as a classroom teacher. I now have knowledge and have taught with the charter school systems, private schools, and religious schools from grades Pre-K- 8th since 2000.However, with the Pandemic, I began tutoring/teaching with a company until presently via zoom and in person. This experience would lead me to create and run my own tutoring business where I teach students from Pre-K to 8th grade via zoom and in person in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. I also have the opportunity to teach ESOL adults who are looking to learn English.My most successful experience as a teacher/tutor was from my student in Elementary Math. I tutored her afterschool when she was in elementary school and struggling in Math. Today she is a married mom of two and herself an Elementary school Math teacher! She lovingly reminds me that her success began with me believing in her and challenging her to blossom successfully to who she is today! Until her teen years I guided, mentored, tutored, and taught her to achieve the success she has today!I also have distinguished awards in 2002 from FAU called the Broward Achievement Award awarded for student leadership as a role model to students and the community. I was also awarded a Certificate of Achievement from Florida Atlantic University in 2002 Awarded for demonstrating distinguished excellence in personal and professional endeavors, as well as dedication and commitment to helping others. I am a graduate of Florida Atlantic University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus on literature. During my time at FAU I developed a great passion for helping other students understand the mechanics of effective writing. I enjoy any opportunity to help others in brainstorming, outlining, and proofreading their writing assignments. I also minored in history, which is a subject I have always had a deep interest in. There are so many interesting and relevant things to gain from history, literature, and writing. I believe that when these subjects are given the proper context and are explained in a compelling way, students are more likely to develop their own personal interest and understanding, which I regard as the key to academic success. In my spare time I like to write songs, play guitar, and study all types of music.

I am a graduate of Florida Atlantic University for elementary education and The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and Western Michigan University for graphic design and fine arts. I received my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and an Associates in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. Since graduating from FAU in 2012, I have taught elementary dual language classes in reading, math, writing, social studies and science in the Palm Beach County school system as a Highly Effective educator. Previously, I held professional roles in advertising agencies and publishing companies as an art director and graphic designer for 20+ years.
