I am a graduate of SUNY University at Albany. I received my Bachelor of Science in Economics and Japanese with a minor in History in 2010. Since then (and even before as a sub) I have predominantly been teaching in the New York City public education system. I had worked as a substitute teaching assistant since 2008, moving between dozens of NYC public schools before finally settling in late 2011 at M.S. 216 George J. Ryan--an incredibly diverse middle school in Queens. During my tenure in the school system I have spent time teaching students from Pre-K to 12th grade, from all cultural background and socioeconomic statuses. Regardless of whom I have taught, I have always enjoyed it, partly because I often learn as much from my students as they learn from me. Regardless of the subject, I love teaching, and I find it to be one of the most rewarding and meaningful activities, which cliched as it may sound, really can make a difference in people's lives. Besides teaching, I am also keenly interested in the human body, specifically biomechanics, kinesiology, and rehabilitation through movement. I am currently enrolled in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Washington University in St. Louis, which I should finish in 2018.

I am rising Junior at Harvard College looking to help tutor and help young minds amidst what is a uniquely challenging time we're currently living through. I love working with kids of all ages, and tutor a wide variety of subjects such as math, english, and standardized tests.
I am a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, with a BA in English Literature, and New York University, with an MA in Arts Administration. I truly enjoy learning so much that Ive studied various subjects at over 10 additional colleges across the United States and Europe, starting in high school! Im also a student of life, attending special seminars (like Landmark and Tony Robbins) whenever I get the chance. Over the past 15 years, Ive had the pleasure of teaching in many different settings. Ive been a museum educator, a classroom teacher (teaching either math, science, English or art), an education program manager, a leadership trainer (teaching a leadership curriculum through the arts), a yoga instructor, and a tutor. Because Im so passionate about learning, its a pleasure for me to inspire my students to discover their own passions and reach their goals. In my spare time, I enjoy world traveling, reading, yoga, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, making art and exploring South Florida. Wherever your educational path takes you, I hope you enjoy the ride!
I am proud to say that the eleven-year-old Vietnamese girl and boy that I tutored for 5 years are both attending Medical school. In addition, I am proud to say that I speak, write and read in French, English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Italian proficiently. Whenever I tell people that I speak French, they often assume that it is not my mother tongue language because I have no accent in English. I am always proud to say that I did not know how to speak English until I was 16 years of age. Learning a language is like cracking a secret code. Once you decode it, the treasure is yours.
I'm currently a Sophmore at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire working to earn a double degree in Economics and Government. For the past four years since I was 16 years old, I've been tutoring fellow peers and younger students across various subject areas, most notably mathematics and social studies. In my senior year of high school I was the Tutor Head of a student-run tutoring company a friend created called Blue Owl Tutors. At Blue Owl Tutors I helped recruit new tutors, engaged parents into how we function as a company, and gave advice to tutors. I mostly tutored in the following subjects: Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, SAT Math Preparation, APUSH, and the SAT U.S History Subject Test. I would say my tutoring style heavily revolves around review, quick testing, and study guides; I have found that students perform better if I make a mini-study guide during our session and give it to them to review.
I am a medical student committed to helping your student succeed. I have been a tutor for 5+ years, and have experience teaching Math, Science, Spanish and Test Prep to students of all ages and ability. I believe every child has the potential to learn with positive one on one attention and I am committing to helping you student learn how they study best, and become a more independent learner. I look forward to meeting you, and helping you achieve your goals!
I'm Gregory Bernstein. I'm a senior at Vanderbilt University and I'm majoring in Political Science. More than anything else, what makes me a great tutor is experience. I've been tutoring students for four years and look forward to tutoring new students with Varsity Tutors.

I am well-versed in everything related to college admissions, from essay writing and editing to standardized testing. I am also proficient in English, and grammar is my specialty. Outside of academics, I enjoy creating digital art, listening to music, and caring for my houseplants.
I am originally from West Virginia and a graduate of West Virginia University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources with minors in Conservation Ecology and Applied Statistics. During my undergraduate degree I travelled the state of West Virginia teaching natural resources science and conservation to a variety of youth groups including Boy Scouts and 4-H. I was also a teaching assistant for an upper-level conservation genetics course. I am currently earning my Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Nova Southeastern University where I study marine fish ecology in the Pacific Ocean. While at NSU I was a teaching assistant for a graduate level course in R programming and biostatistics. I have been an ACT/SAT test prep and subject tutor for almost two years now, and enjoy helping students reach their academic goals. I am most passionate about teaching science, English, and reading, but I also tutor many students that struggle in high school math. I emphasize a relaxed but focused environment while tutoring, and I want to help students build their confidence in whatever area they need support. I firmly believe that learning should always be interesting and fun, even when challenging. In my spare time I enjoy wildlife photography, reading, and hiking.
I enjoy helping students understand both math and computer science by breaking complex concepts into clear, logical steps. I have experience tutoring math and introductory computer science topics and adapt my teaching style to each student, focusing on patience, encouragement, and real understanding rather than memorization. My goal is to make challenging subjects feel approachable and to help students build confidence and problem-solving skills they can carry into future classes.
I am a junior in college pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, with a minor in Biology. I've been tutoring both formally and informally for the last 5 years in a wide variety of subjects. My teaching approach focuses on creating a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals and develop essential study skills because I believe that every student has the capability to succeed in what they want to do.

While Fort Lauderdale's average student-teacher ratio is relatively balanced, individual attention in the classroom is still limited when students have different learning paces and needs.
