I am approaching the end of my doctoral journey in Public Administration. I have a master's in Educational Administration, and a bachelor's in Linguistics: ESOL and Communication Science Disorders. I have been an educator for 20+ years, serving in a variety of capacities (e.g., speech pathologist, teacher, and staffing specialist); however, the majority of my experience has been in working with persons with disabilities and managing such programs.I am fluent in English, French, and Haitian Creole, plus I have a fair knowledge of Spanish as well.In my spare time, I enjoy helping children and adults achieve their academic goals by giving them the tools they need to become successful via tutoring, editing of their writing, and teaching them to think and analyze their own work. I became an educator because it is my sincerest belief that with education we can do anything. We can transform ideas; we can transform lives; we can transform the world.

Obtaining my Associate of Arts degree from Broward College in Visual & Performing Arts and then my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Florida International University academically prepared me for a future in tutoring. Leading up to my degrees, I spent countless years teaching my younger cousin, who was an ESOL student, how to effectively manage being bilingual in America. I also helped teach my 3 younger brothers how to fluently communicate in Spanish. Although I enjoy helping others who wish to break into the Performing Arts Industry, I am also most passionate about aiding those who want to broaden their horizons and skills by learning a second language. Growing up bilingual I was fascinated with the art of communication and I took on French all the way through the AP level just for fun. Education is empowering and I believe everyone should have the right to learn in a way that is effective for them and catered to their specific needs.

My strengths are in getting results on standardized exams and college essays.I am a veteran AP English Teacher and have helped hundreds of students write and perfect their college essays. My students pass their exams with high scores and go on to have successful college lives. Look no further when you are selecting a tutor. In fact, one of the best parts of being a teacher is seeing the light of understanding in a student's eyes, or when a student falls in love with something he or she has learned. In almost 20 years of teaching, I am proud to say I have seen that light thousands of times.I hold both a Bachelor's and Master's of Arts degrees in English (with an emphasis in Medieval Studies) from California State University at Fullerton. I have successfully delivered papers at professional conferences on medieval studies, but I am also a secondary school (middle and high school) English teacher during the regular school months.I am passionate about writing and English. I have taught high school for most of my career, and have been an incredibly successful AP English Literature and Composition teacher as well as a Dual Enrolllment college instructor. My approach to teaching is very targeted. I like to assess students, find their strengths, and find their areas for improvement.I do not believe in lengthy or drawn-out approaches, but rather in timely, goal-specific regimens with clear paths for both the student and parent.

I've taught as a Florida certified high school teacher and also tutored young as elementary children. Some of my students are dyslexic, under the umbrella of special needs, or don't even speak the same language as I do.No matter the child, because I am my energetic and youthful self, students can relate to me and are more in tuned to want to learn from me. If I have to speak to my student in meme, pop culture, or in the lingo of the latest social media trends, they will get my message.I spent my first year of education tutoring only students diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD at an intensive learning center, as the two are often paired. I was trained in methods such as Orton Gillingham and Linda Mood Bell that work better for this target group. The experience taught me plenty about multiple learning styles. Educators must strive to fully stimulate their students. Sometimes it requires triggering all senses and figuring which sense the child learns with best. Repetition of writing, saying, touching, and organizing letters & numbers in the form of chips, blocks, sand and various tactile mediums can make for the best results and sometimes none of this is needed. I, the teacher, have learned to be flexible in approach and to listen to my student the same way I expect him or her to listen to me. So when I teach, we both learn. And through this process, I maintain my youth.Tell me what your specific challenge is, whether it's a particular subject, organization,or just the need for a homework buddy when mom and dad don't have time.Let's see what we can work out
