Varsity Tutors is here to support prospective teachers with excellent Tulsa Praxis prep opportunities. The Praxis exams are used by many states and licensure programs as part of the process of becoming certified to teach. If you are required to take one of the Praxis exams, you'll want to do everything possible to prepare thoroughly so you can showcase your potential. If you are one of the many people who struggle with solo study techniques, you can benefit from taking a Praxis class or working with a private teacher. If you allow an experienced instructor to worry about the lesson plans and study schedule, you can spend more time working on learning and reviewing the actual content. This can help you to have more productive and efficient study sessions. If you're interested in learning more about the benefits of Tulsa Praxis prep, continue reading.
What topics and content can be covered during Tulsa Praxis prep?
The Praxis exam comes in two different categories.
One exam is the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Test. The Core Tests assess one's skills and knowledge of Mathematics, Writing, and Reading. If you're planning on entering a teacher prep program at a college or university such as The University of Tulsa or Oral Roberts University, you may need to take the Core tests. The three Core tests can be taken on the same day or can be taken at different times. To prepare, your Tulsa Praxis prep teacher can go over topics and skills you would have learned in algebra, geometry, statistics, and probability classes. You may also wish to review the integration of multiple documents, argumentative writing strategies, research skills, and the ability to accurately revise a text.
The second category is the Praxis Subjects Assessment. These assessments are offered in two versions: Subject Assessments and Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) Exams. The Subject Assessments evaluate your understanding of subjects that K-12 teachers will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching abilities and knowledge. The PLT exams come in four grade-level categories: Early Childhood, K-6, 5-9, and 7-12. To prepare for these tests, you'll want to review general pedagogical knowledge and skills. The tests all have a different time allowance and vary in length.
In addition to reviewing specific content, your instructor can work on test-taking skills. You may be able to participate in practice timed exams to help you get used to the type of environment you'll encounter on exam day. You can also receive tips or strategies about ways to reduce test-day jitters, which many people struggle with. These skills will not only help you with the Praxis exams, but with any future exam you may need to take.
What are the different benefits of either taking an online Tulsa Praxis prep course or being connected to a private instructor?
When you elect to sign up for our Tulsa Praxis prep class, you'll be able to attend your classes online using a unique learning platform. The virtual classroom is equipped with video chat capabilities and an online whiteboard. You'll be able to directly talk to, see, and hear your teacher during class sessions. You can also interact with your classmates using the platform. You can have opportunities to work on skills with your peers during group projects or activities. During discussions with your teacher and peers, you can gain insight into new ideas and teaching methods. Working collaboratively can help you with memory retention and make your classes more enjoyable. This is an excellent opportunity for learners who enjoy a social learning environment.
Opting to be connected to a private teacher is a different type of learning experience. You'll have more control over the topics and content of your lessons. You can completely skip over any skills you've mastered and focus on the areas you need more time to understand. Your teacher will be able to learn your goals, academic strengths, preferred style of learning, and your areas of weakness. You can have face-to-face meetings with your instructor using our Live Learning Platform, which brings one-on-one attention to your favorite place to study. If you prefer, we can find you an instructor who is local and will make every effort to find someone who can help you reach for your goals and meet within your scheduling requirements.
What do I need to do to begin working with a private Tulsa Praxis tutor or enroll in an online Praxis class?
All you need to do to get started is contact our educational consultants either by phone or online. We will help you understand the different prep options and answer any questions you might have. Let Varsity Tutors get you set up with Tulsa Praxis preparation so you can work towards your teaching aspirations.

...much more to teaching than just making certain that students answer questions correctly on a test. A teacher must never lose sight of the idea that he is preparing his students to be successful no matter what endeavor they choose to pursue after graduation. Any chance I get to improve the futures of my students will be just as important to them, and to me, as learning mathematical ideas in the classroom.... Learning involves a process of acquiring knowledge by focused attention, observation, and practice, and then eventually forming, integrating, and using concepts as part of the student's full body of knowledge. Early in a child's life, a rudimentary form of learning may be accomplished through rote memorization and repetition of facts. Truly understanding a subject, however, requires a student to focus on the content and the meaning of a given subject, to isolate its essentials, to establish its relationship to what the student already knows, and to integrate it with the appropriate categories of other subjects. An education that trains a student's mind to think, therefore, would be one that teaches him to make connections, to generalize, and to understand the wider issues and principles involved in a given topic. The ideal teacher would achieve this feat by presenting the material to him in a calculated, conceptually proper order, accompanied by the necessary context, as well as the evidence that validates each new piece of information. Math is uniquely suited for demonstrating the consequences of such a theoretical approach to learning. It is my responsibility as a mathematician and math teacher not only to teach my students the concrete, factual knowledge of a geometry or calculus textbook, but also to examine with my students what this information communicates about ourselves, our world, and our culture, carefully balancing concretes and abstractions, identifying and explaining the reasoning at each point in the lesson, and preparing the students' minds for drawing connections between mathematical concepts and the world outside the classroom. Indeed, these are the processes that must first be absorbed each academic year by the student in relation to many different subjects. Upon graduation, such training will encourage an attitude of self-confidence and self-efficacy in regards to learning. My primary function and goal as an educator, therefore, is to help to instill in my students the skills and mental habits necessary for them to learn anything they want by themselves, which means, to be interested and excited about their own intellectual development.

...to find the right answers. A good teacher must help students recognize their individual learning styles, discover any flaws in their foundation knowledge, set reasonable goals, and look for deeper meanings behind why a problem is best solved a certain way. Moreover, she taught me the importance of concise communication, organization and empathy when teaching. I think that not only is teaching more similar to coaching than lecturing and assigning work, but also clear presentations,...
