I graduated from Willamette University with a bachelor's degree in French. As an undergraduate, I developed and taught curriculum for an extracurricular French course for local middle schoolers. I emphasized beginning vocabulary and verb conjugations and integrated games, music, homework, cooking and classroom projects. I also coached fellow undergraduates in navigating French grammar, syntax and pronunciation, paying special attention to helping them develop effective time management and study methods. While I do specialize in French, I also tutor in English grammar and mechanics, essay writing and editing, and study skills and organization. I am a firm believer that organized writing is an invaluable lifeskill, regardless of academic area of interest, and love helping students realize their full writing potential for success in the classroom and beyond. I also believe students get out of their education precisely what they put into it, and strive to show them the value of dedication and hard work. In my spare time, I love getting creative in the kitchen, reading, practicing Pilates, and staying involved with a Chicago-based food blog.

I am a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University where I am studying Public Administration. Before I enrolled in school, I traveled to Beijing, China, where I taught Language Arts, Pre-Algebra, and Environmental Science at an international school. While I lived in Beijing, China, I enjoyed traveling to famous landmarks such as the Great Wall and Summer Palace. In addition to teaching at an international school, I spent my time tutoring English to elementary students at a private academy. My expertise teaching English includes grammar, writing, and speaking. I also enjoy teaching math because I can make the subject interesting by using real-life examples. As a graduate student, I value education and I believe good knowledge should be shared when possible. I am passionate about helping a wide variety of students, from students who struggle with basic concepts in math and reading to students who excel in their class. I went to a collegiate high school, the Texas Academy of Math and Science. It's taught me how to be the best of the best in Mathematics and I've learned every nook and cranny of the subject. This allows me to establish a strong foundation of knowledge in my students. I've been tutoring since 7th grade and I've tutored anyone from 3rd grade to 12th grade. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively in North Africa, the Middle East and Central America, and I have worked in law and education. I currently teach Film Production at a public arts high school and freelance as a filmmaker and writer. In my spare time, I play beach volleyball and enjoy cooking, gardening and reading.

I've traveled to many countries, some of which include Brasil, Italy, Colombia, Spain and Nigeria. I currently work as a supervisor at Target in Brooklyn New York. My true passion however is soccer and I aspire one day to be a professional in this field, whether playing or working. I have been privileged to receive my undergraduate education at Brown University graduating with Honors in Biology. After college, I joined Teach For America and taught High School Special Education in several subjects including earth science, forensic science, and chemistry. Science is my passion. I then went on to pursue my medical degree and will be starting my Neurology residency this year. As the eldest of six children, I have unofficially been tutoring for most of my life and officially been tutoring for over 10 years. My three summers as a residential advisor have given me invaluable experiences that have encouraged my interest in teaching.
