I graduated with my B.S. in Integrated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and my M.A. in Education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from The College of New Jersey. I have found the career where my passion and skill set work seemlessly to provide me an opportunity to teach Deaf individuals about the STEM subjects through American Sign Language. I have experience working with students who are hearing, Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I have worked with students from Pre K through age 21. I feel that my experience teaching has prepared me for tutoring your student.

My name is Ava. I am from Phoenix, Arizona but currently live in New York as a student at Fordham University. I am a Philosophy major with a passion for learning and creativity. I have experience tutoring in pre-algebra, Latin, and SAT prep. I have taken the SAT three times, the PSAT three times, and three SAT subject tests. I am extremely familiar with the layout of the SAT and how to coach students in studying and test-taking techniques. I believe in setting a strong foundation of knowledge for students to build off of in every subject they approach. I look forward to helping students become the best they can be through engaging lessons made specifically for each individual.

I am a graduate of Harvard College with a concentration in History of Art and Architecture. I love math and design, and I believe an understanding of both can help us appreciate our surroundings. My favorite subjects to tutor are algebra and geometry because it is so easy to make use of them in everyday life. When I tutor, I like to have my student identify what is confusing, work through the problem with my student, and then have them attempt a similar problem completely on their own. In my spare time, I enjoy soccer, baking, and hiking.

I graduated with my B.A. in Education from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. I have taught both math and science in Texas public schools for the past six years. I have tutored students both one-on-one and in small groups since I was in high school. My tutoring specialty is middle school math, Algebra I, and of course SAT math (because it's lots of middle school math!). Algebra I is my absolute favorite subject to teach and tutor - I love how it is cumulative and you keep using the skills you've learned for the rest of the year. I believe that understanding math is based on a student's skill ability. Just like a musical instrument or sport, it becomes a lot easier the more you practice it. Once you invest the time and gain understanding, math becomes fun like a puzzle! Outside of my math world, in my free time, I love to hang out with my lab, Cooper. I also enjoy reading, yoga, and swimming.

I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!

It is also great to see students understand and succeed as they don't always realize how simple something can be when it is broken down into easier steps!I have taught middle school, high school and college level Mathematics. I am also a licensed Mathematics and Special Education teacher and have worked with college students as an instructor and adviser.I love to teach and show neat tricks to help students understand complex concepts!

I am recent graduate of Northern Illinois University's Philosophy Masters Program where I received a master's degree in Philosophy I also received a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia in Philosophy and Sociology. At NIU, I was employed as a Teacher's Assistant and now I currently work at the Huntington Learning Center in Geneva (Illinois) as an SAT/ACT Reading/Writing Section tutor. The main subjects I tutor are philosophy and writing. My lifelong passion is philosophy, and so I hope to eventually acquire a PhD and become a philosophy professor. At NIU, I received world-class training in analytic philosophy. My areas of expertise in philosophy are philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, and metaphysics. However, I am able to tutor any core subject in analytic philosophy (e.g. ethics, epistemology, history of philosophy, etc.). I believe that one of the most important skills for any student to hone is their writing ability. A large part of my philosophical training was learning how to write complex and technical arguments clearly. As a TA, I worked one-on-one with many students helping each improve their essay assignments and their writing skills in general. With my training, I can help make your writing clear, persuasive, and yet still interesting to read. Though I can help improve any form of writing, argumentative/thesis style essays are my specialty. My focus when working with students on writing is not just on improving specific assignments. Instead, my tutoring strategy focuses on improving a students writing abilities in general, with the hope that students leave the secessions as better writers and better thinkers. They must be well-educated so that they can become successful problem solvers and decision makers. I tutor Spanish and Mathematics. I truly enjoy teaching both of these subjects because I consider them both languages. I have loved math my whole life, and I hope to share that love for the subject with my students.
