I believe that people are in some ways, are made like trees: some trees produce fruit - contributing to society through the creation of things or having children and others provide shade - giving protection to others from the harsher elements of life. A person who is a shade tree looks for ways to serve others by providing shelter, i.e. a ride to work or just a few meals because funds are tight. Even in adverse circumstances, I have always been a shade tree and my desire to become a teacher goes back over 30 years.Currently, I am a middle school special education teacher at a local school in our area of Lynchburg. I am the proud mother of twin teenage daughters who attend high school. One of my daughters loves to dance and the other loves to play soccer. Now serving at Varsity Tutors, allow me to help you create change in you and the world!Let's do this!!

Anatomy & Physiology Tutor • +8 Subjects
My first tutoring experience was of small groups of dental and medical first years while I was obtaining my PhD in Physiology at the University of Puerto Rico. Since then I have taught a variety of Science classes (General Biology, Anatomy, Anatomy and Physiology) to larger groups at the college level. As a researcher I have also mentored students (ranging from high school to graduate students) in a laboratory setting where the interactions are one-on-one and structured to each individual. I have learned that these individual interactions are the best to ensure that the student is getting help specifically where (and when) they need it, and for me (the tutor) to identify where the difficulty lies. Also, these individual interactions allow for a more comfortable relationship between mentor and mentee (tutor and student), which in turn allow for a better understanding of the materials. Although I am capable of tutoring different STEM topics, I am a biologist at heart.I am a mother of 3 young kids and understand the hardships of remote learning. My background is multicultural, which makes me fluent in Spanish, English and French.

My name is Dr. Samuel Feldman. My entire life has been dedicated to science and education. Previously, I was an adjunct professor and biomedical engineering research scientist at the NYU Medical Center. For the last 12 years, I have taught Physics and Chemistry in New Jersey public high schools. As your coach, I can help you achieve your personal goals whether it is to get a high score on a standardized Exam such as Advanced Placement or SAT 2 or just to do better in your high school science classes. What you will discover is that Physics and Chemistry are not difficult once you have mastered the fundamentals. So, that is where we will start. Most of us are visual learners so I use visuals and everyday life examples. I have a tool box of props such as models and flash cards to help you accomplish this.Once you have mastered the fundamentals, you can apply this knowledge to problem solving. I have study guides and sample tests for AP and SAT 2 Exams. (I also have copies of nearly every Physics and Chemistry text book used in New Jersey.) There is a lot of repetition and certain problem types show up on nearly every test. Finally, I will coach you on test taking strategies and techniques. If you are taking a standardized exam, time management skills are essential. If you select me as your coach, you will need to work hard but you will discover that mastering science can be fun.
