I am rising Junior at Harvard College looking to help tutor and help young minds amidst what is a uniquely challenging time we're currently living through. I love working with kids of all ages, and tutor a wide variety of subjects such as math, english, and standardized tests.

I am currently a Master's student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, finishing up a Computer Science degree. I am interested specifically in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning and have two years professional experience in the industry. I have been employed at companies in California, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

I am a rising senior at Duke University majoring in Psychology and minoring in English. I first started tutoring when I was 10; I'd explain new words in books to my little sister and help her with cursive, work on times tables with my older brother, and teach the little bit of English I knew to my immigrant parents. I tutored students in my middle school through a counseling program, helped deaf and disabled students develop social and creative skills, and freelance tutored throughout high school, and have tutored Spanish-speaking immigrant families (ages 6-12) in Durham, NC since October 2018. Other teaching experiences include training my dog to go down a slide on command and teaching my 10th-grade precalculus teacher how to hand whistle. Though I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Writing. I am a graduate of Brandeis University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in History and Psychology. I am also a recent graduate of University College London, where I received my Master of Science in Child Development. I have been tutoring for several years, beginning in high school when I tutored as part of the community service component of the International Baccalaureate Program. I have since then continued tutoring in various subjects and at a range of levels. Some of my favorite subjects include English, Math (up through the Algebra II level), Social Sciences, and SAT/ACT preparation. I enjoy contributing to the success of my students and seeing them improve in their skills, scores, and attitude towards learning. I make a point of getting to know each student so I can meet his or her specific needs and teach in a compatible style. I am a licensed physician from Florida who is currently changing careers. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 and have extensive tutoring and editing experience. While a student, I became a certified writing tutor through the Critical Writing Department. Since I completed my writing requirement at the University prior to matriculating, I was the first freshman tutor to be accepted into this selective program. The tutoring program involved a preliminary peer-tutor training course prior to beginning tutoring, in order to certify that I had the appropriate background to provide professional feedback to fellow students on their literary works and projects. After graduation, I worked for a full-service learning center where I created and implemented high school lesson plans for home-schooled students, provided academic support for students ranging in ages from 8 to 20 years old, and taught group and individual standardized testing preparation classes. I have also assisted students with application essays for various undergraduate and graduate programs.

I'm a passionate explorer, educator, and scientist. I am a Planetary Science Researcher (PhD, 2008). I write grants to NASA to use spacecraft data to study the composition and evolution of rocky planetary bodies (Moon, Mercury, asteroids). My research is broad and interdisciplinary that equips me to tutor many subjects and also to show students connections between subjects when it improves subject mastery. I have been teaching and tutoring for over twenty years, at every level of my education and career. In high school I taught aerospace education and aviation search and rescue while I earned my pilot's license. As an undergraduate at Duke I tutored athletes in Geology, Calculus, and Electrical Engineering core courses and I was a teaching assistant for Computer Science and Linear Circuits Laboratory. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in geology. And as a professor, I've taught undergraduate and graduate science courses at a major U.S. research university. Most recently I designed a combined English and Engineering elective to students with limited English Proficiency at a small university in Colombia.
