We worked through the student's History homework, which focused on President Jackson and his battles with the National Bank. We then completed his Science homework packet, which covered speed, distance, velocity, and acceleration. While we were able to work through each question, I would like to spend more time reading the book to ensure that he is understanding the entire concept.

We worked on studying for a math test and making corrections to an essay the student turned in for English.

We spent the first 45 minutes prepping for the student's vocab test. I read him the words, and he spelled them. Then, I quizzed him on definitions and honed in on the more difficult words. We then spent ten minutes looking for a menu from an Argentine website online for his Spanish class, and then we used the remaining time to work on his math homework. He's starting to learn algebra, so we worked on ten problems where he needed to solve for the variable and then check his answer by replacing the variable with the number he found. He told me he received 100% on his history paper that we worked on last week.

During our session, the student and I continued to work on a paper for his biology class. We focused on the styling of his writing this week, compared to last week where we worked on mechanics of writing. After we worked on his paper, we reviewed a few key points of genetics. He needs to review his vocabulary more for genetics. He understands monohybrid and dihybrid Punnett squares and understands when to use them. I believe that he needs to work heavily on understanding the vocabulary terms from genetics part I, and the review questions for genetics part I. Then, once those are mastered, move on to genetics part II vocabulary and review questions. Next week, we will be working on finishing up his paper and then reviewing many of the genetics review questions.

I had a good session with this student! We've begun the 2nd semester with trigonometric identities and proofs. He did a homework problem set and we did some extra practice together. I demonstrated some techniques that might help recall and choosing strategies. This was our first day at it together - things will improve with practice!
