I am currently a graduate student at the Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences - New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. Although I am pursuing a medical career, I am a firm advocate of education. In terms of how my belief meshes with my interest in medicine, patient education should play a large part in patient care. Education leads a greater understanding of underlying health issues, causes, and risks which leads to a greater chance in patient compliance.However, before I even came to be where I am now, education has always been a priority for me. My parents are immigrants from a South Korea that was still developing. Thus, they work and struggle in the United States for the sake of their children's education though they themselves do not have more than a high school education - if even that. I was raised to pursue higher education, but once I graduated college and started working during my gap year, I truly came to realize the importance of education and appreciate the academic opportunities I have had thus far. Without education, without a solid foundation in the basics that are later built upon in college and university, there is no personal or societal progress.

I am currently a high school Latin teacher, but I have co-taught all levels of high school English, as well as Math I and II. I have also taught College Prep, which includes not only SAT and ACT prep but also coaching for college admissions essays.Back in my student days, I studied like a maniac and took more standardized tests than I care to remember. As a result, I was admitted to UChicago for undergrad and to Yale for my Ph.D. I'll be happy to pass on all of my study and test taking strategies to you.

I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2017, where I earned respective Bachelor's degrees in English, German Studies, and Medieval Studies. All told, I have nearly ten years of formal tutoring experience, particularly in academic and creative writing, reading comprehension, and college test-prep. My tutoring methodology centers around positive psychology, meaning that I encourage students by focusing on their strengths and building confidence in their skills and potential. I believe wholeheartedly in the value of discussion when teaching and learning; neither happens in a vacuum, and as both are constant processes, I recognize that collaboration and patience are key. My job is to help you break that stigma associated with Math by changing the way you approach the problem. I hold a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and was able to do so at an online university. It takes discipline teaching yourself a subject online and that is why I want to help you so you are not alone.
