I graduated from The George Washington University in 2015 with a BA in International Affairs. After graduating college, I moved to the Mississippi Delta to teach with Teach for America. Teach for America (TFA) is an AmeriCorps program that recruits, trains, and places top college graduates in high needs schools throughout the country. During my time with TFA, I taught a variety of science courses in my placement high school, including state tested biology. I am a certified biology and social studies teacher for grades 7-12. My time teaching has been both rewarding and challenging. One of my focuses as a lead science teacher was to work with students on college readiness. From ACT prep to rigorous lab based science instruction, we saw students grow five points on the ACT and increased the pass rate on the state exam. As my time with Teach for America comes to an end, I am excited to continue my commitment to education with Varsity Tutors. Currently I am working on a Master’s in Public Health at Emory University.

I am a graduate student in the humanities who is lucky enough to teach, read, and write for a living. I am passionately committed to educational access and helping young people reach their full potential. It has been my privilege to work with dozens of bright and talented students over the years, ranging from fifth grade to university level. I especially enjoy helping students with test prep and am qualified to teach all sections of the SAT and GRE, including math. I would also love to tutor in history, literature, and writing.Currently, I am earning my PhD in early modern European History from Stanford University. I am a lawyer and college instructor. I graduated cum laude (3.6 GPA) from University of Georgia School of Law (a top 30 school). I obtained a bachelor's degree in French and Biology from University of Delaware. I currently tutor LSAT and I am interested in branching out to tutor the GRE, reading/writing, sociology and government. I have taught a wide range of sociology courses and I am presently teaching a research and writing course at the college level. My tutoring strategy focuses on the student with whom I am working. Before meeting, I try to first assess problem areas to strategize a plan that will make the most impact quickly. I find that students make the best progress after they initially succeed in grasping a difficult concept. I really enjoy teaching and I particularly like the one-on-one aspect of tutoring. Teaching is also a great fit for me right now because I am in the process of starting my own non-profit and the flexibility of teaching allows me to support myself until my non-profit gets up and running. Outside of work, I am an avid backpacker (just this past year I backpacked the Grand Canyon, the Adirondacks and Olympic National Park). And I also enjoy kayaking on the Brandywine, playing pick-up soccer games, cooking and taking my doggie for long hikes.

I have a BA in Political Science from New College of Florida and a MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. While I'm a photographer by trade, I also have a passion for and expertise in Math and the Natural Sciences -- as well as French and Spanish, having studied and worked in both Paris and Central America. While I'm proficient now, I struggled with both languages early on, and understand the challenges of both starting a new language and in moving from a conversational to a more proficient level. I'm also available for ACT and SAT test prep -- and work especially well with students who are visual learners (though I have a wide range of materials and resources for all styles of learning!).
