If you're attending the Duke University School of Law, The North Carolina Central University School of Law, or any other school in the Raleigh-Durham area, Varsity Tutors can provide a Raleigh-Durham bar exam prep course that can offer guidance as you get ready to take this crucial test. If you've made it this far towards your goal of becoming a licensed lawyer, you've undoubtedly put a considerable amount of time and effort into your education. A Raleigh-Durham bar exam course can help you work to bring all that work to its realization by giving you access to an online classroom where you'll be taught by an expert bar exam prep instructor as well as the support of an online classroom full of other prospective lawyers.
What material will a Raleigh-Durham bar exam class cover?
The path to a license to practice law varies from state to state. In the state of North Carolina, you may be required to take the MPRE and the UBE. The MPRE, or Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination, focuses on your understanding of the professional conduct and ethics that lawyers and judges are expected to abide by. Here you'll answer multiple-choice questions on topics like regulation of the legal profession, client confidentiality, and conflicts of interest, to name a few. You'll have two hours to answer 60 questions of this kind.
The UBE, or Uniform Bar Exam, is comprised of three sub-tests. First is the Multistate Bar Examination, a six-hour multiple-choice test which covers the fundamentals of legal reasoning and legal principles. You'll be asked to respond to questions on subjects such as civil procedure, or criminal law and procedure, based off of your analysis of provided fact patterns. Next is the Multistate Essay Examination. This test is made up of six 30-minute written response questions intended to gauge your written communication skills. You'll be presented with hypothetical situations, and will have to identify pertinent legal issues, analyze the information, and craft a well-reasoned response. Last is the Multistate Performance Test. This test aims to assess your real-life law skills by giving you a realistic situation to address, like drafting a will or a letter to a client. You'll have to use provided material to gather information, apply legal principles and relevant laws, and write a response, all within 90 minutes for each of the two tasks you'll be given.
How will a Raleigh-Durham bar exam class present all this?
This may seem like a lot to review, and it is, but a Raleigh-Durham bar exam class can help you organize your studies and prepare one step at a time. The class is taught entirely online, but thanks to our video chat platform you'll be able to see, hear, and speak with your teacher and classmates, so you can engage with the rest of the class just as if you were meeting in person. Your instructor can give lessons and review legal concepts and can give you feedback as the test approaches so you can keep your prep on track.
Your instructor may choose to break the class up into group for activities or discussion, so you can learn collaboratively alongside other law students. You'll be brought into conversation with a wide range of perspectives on law, and you might be able to imagine how useful this kind of discussion work can be for developing your argumentation skills, or for building a well-rounded understanding of complex ethical issues. You'll be able to request one-on-one review time with your instructor, too, so you can get difficult issues cleared up.
An online-format course allows you to take control of your learning experience, as you'll be able to access your Raleigh-Durham bar exam course from any location where you can connect to the internet, so you can find a study space that's comfortable and free of distractions. You won't have to commute, either, which can make fitting a prep course into your life easier, and free you up to spend more time studying. There's plenty of course meeting times on offer, so even if your schedule is demanding, you can still find something that suits your lifestyle.
