I am currently an engineering student at Columbia University. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, physics and introductory Chinese, as well as SAT prep. I know how stressful standardized testing can be, and therefore I hope to help my students prepare both academically and mentally, introducing them to new ways of thinking about problems that will make the questions easier to answer correctly.

I am currently an undergrad at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Mathematics and Political Science. I have been tutoring students since high school, mostly in science and math. I've found that STEM courses are intimidating to many students, and I hope to get rid of that fear and promote an appreciation for numbers and the sciences. In my tutoring, I focus on helping students understand the concepts beneath the problems, so as to facilitate learning rather than memorization. I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.

I am eager to help students thrive because I'm still very much a student myself, and will be for the foreseeable future. Though I enjoyed my time as an undergraduate student in Literature, and learned quite a bit during my time at Vanderbilt, there's still more work to be done. I am working towards a Master's degree, and will continue on from there.

I am a recent graduate of Cornell University, where I received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Over the past several years, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds and experiences tutoring thermodynamics (my personal favorite), chemistry, and math. I have also tutored in the past for ACT/SAT and other subjects such as history, but I am deeply passionate about science and engineering. I tend to push my students to understand conceptual topics, as opposed to rote or algorithmic learning. In my free time, I love to bake sourdough, learn about history, garden, and recently started biking again.

I have several years of experience tutoring SAT students, but thanks to my mixed background I have proficiency in a wide range of subjects including mathematics, biological sciences, engineering, and physical sciences.

I am a recent college graduate currently pursuing a career in publishing in New York City. My interest in tutoring and the publishing industry stem from the same source: I want to help instill in others the same love of learning I have felt throughout my life. Whether it's getting lost in a good book or feeling the thrill of excitement at finally solving a difficult math problem, I feel that learning should be fun and viewed as a challenge, not a chore. Throughout my academic career, I have been a well-rounded student, excelling in math as well as language and literature. I am a notoriously good test-taker, a skill developed from solid study habits that I hope to pass on to future students.
