Studying for the SAT might be hard for some students, but Varsity Tutors can help by setting you up with an Oklahoma City SAT prep course. These prep courses can help you gain a better understanding of what's expected from students taking the SAT. It could also help you reach for your full potential by setting you up to move toward the results that you deserve. The SAT is a long, challenging test that many high school students take at some point. This typically includes students in grades 11 and 12.
One purpose of the SAT is to provide a standardized test that's used across the entire country, accurately assessing students' abilities across many different schools, like Heritage Hall and Memorial High School. But the SAT also serves another purpose - one that might be a lot more relevant to some students. The results of your test are analyzed by universities to help them assess whether or not you're a good fit for their school. Because of this, it's important to do your very best to reach for your full potential on your SAT.
That's why an SAT prep course might be a great option. These courses are completely online, and you'll jump straight into a virtual classroom setting. These courses are also taught by expert instructors who might know all kinds of tips and tricks to help you with your SAT. And of course, you'll cover the content of the SAT in depth. This includes not only the different sections of the test, but also the general structure.
The SAT takes about three hours to complete, with an option to take an additional Essay section. If you choose this option, you get an additional 50 minutes to take the test. The required sections are Writing and Language, Math, and Reading. Many of the questions are in multiple-choice format, and there's no penalty for guessing. You'll also get short breaks throughout the test.
What Might You Learn From An Oklahoma City SAT Course?
Your instructor might cover a wide variety of different topics pertaining to your SAT. These topics revolve around the four different sections of the SAT, and you'll have the opportunity to discuss each section and how to approach them. You might have a chance to practice questions similar to those you would face on the actual test. You'll have the chance to ask as many questions as you like, and your instructor can clarify concepts that are giving you trouble. You'll also dive into the specifics of the actual sections.
The Math section is the longest section on the SAT. You'll have 80 minutes to complete this section, and there are 58 questions. Speed is a factor, and you'll need lots of practice to ensure you can solve these math problems quickly and efficiently. Some of the questions are in multiple-choice format, while others are "grid-in" style. There is one section which allows the use of a calculator, and another section that does not. Your instructor might cover topics such as algebra and data analysis, both of which are featured heavily in the Math section.
Your Oklahoma City SAT course will also cover the Reading section in depth. You'll have 65 minutes to complete this section, and there are 52 questions. As the name suggests, this section is all about reading comprehension. But it's not as simple as you might think. You'll need to show your command of evidence, your understanding of context, and your ability to analyze historical texts. You will also be asked to draw conclusions from passages that you read - some of which will be based on classical U.S. literature.
The Writing and Language section of the SAT is separate from the Reading section, but it's worth pointing out that they are scored together. Your final score in both sections will be joined together to form the "Evidence-Based Reading and Writing" score. So how does the Writing and Language section differ from the Reading section? This section is notably shorter than other sections, and you'll only have 35 minutes to get through it. That being said, there are only 44 questions. In addition, the Writing and Language section focuses more on grammar and sentence structure than the Reading Section. While the Reading section is all about figuring out the context and the message behind the text, the Writing and Language section is about searching for errors and improving written passages.
Finally, you have the option to write an Essay as part of your SAT. Students might want to take this section if they want to showcase their writing skills, and certain colleges may even require it. The Essay section is all about assessing an argument. You'll be given this argument at the beginning of your essay, and then you'll need to plan out your essay and draft an outline. You only have 50 minutes to craft your essay, so organization is very important. Remember, it's about assessing an author's argument, not injecting your own opinions into the essay.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher. I believe that teaching is more than a job, more than a career; it is a calling. Making a difference in the lives of others is important to me. I can't think of another job that offers that opportunity as much as teaching. ... The first session would begin with me getting to know my student. I want to know what they enjoy doing, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and find something that we have in common. The commonality will give us something from which to build a relationship. After these things are accomplished, it will be time to get down to the business at hand - learning!

I believe in the power of education.... Believe in yourself. You have the power to do great things. If you work hard and try your best, you can achieve anything you want. I can help guide you, but you have to put in the work.... Ask them questions to understand what they know, what they need help with, and what will be the best way to approach the tutoring sessions... By teaching them good study skills, test taking skills, time management, and organization. Also, by helping them to realize their potential and help them feel empowered.

I'm a graduate having acquired a Masters and Bachelors Degree in engineering from the University of Central Oklahoma. I am very well versed in math and science courses, mostly physics and engineering from my experience as an engineering student. I have experience with college prep and GRE testing as well, with an emphasis on math/quantitative reasoning.... Practice and patience are a solution for some, but correct learning methods are the key for others!... Get to know the student and find out what they need help with. Afterwards, design a program to help them with the issues they are having.
