Literature Tutoring review by Pamela in Memphis, TN
We reread chapter 1 of The Great Gatsby, analyzed the text, and used context clues to go over the meanings of many of the words. The student also completed the comprehension questions that were assigned for the chapter. I provided feedback for the AP History essays he worked on and we went over some of the terms that he will be tested on at school later this week.

Literature Tutoring review by John in Memphis, TN
This session began with elocution exercises for the vowel sound "o"-- hard and soft pronunciations, in its variant spellings, with different placement in dozens of words. We also made more progress in our continuous review of American English expressions and idioms in their diverse usage. I introduced roughly 20 such expressions in this meeting. Some pose more difficulty than others in supplying context and examples, but the student finds that many of these sayings have an equivalent in Korean, which helps to plant the meaning further and makes him more comfortable with the prospect of using these phrases in everyday conversation.

Literature Tutoring review by Dr. Melissa in Memphis, TN
The student and I reviewed concepts for his English test, which will be a comprehensive exam over vocab, grammar, and short stories. He and I focused mainly on vocabulary today; imagery and application were some study skills that I used to help him to recall and understand words. He has a great memory and planned to create more flashcards since we had used them to test sixteen of the most difficult words.

Today, the student and I made steps in trying to understand a little bit more about the process of RNA transcription and translation. He seems to be getting the process, and he said he feels confident about his quiz that he took on it. I thought of a better way to describe the tRNA today though that really seemed to click.

Literature Tutoring review by Danielle in Memphis, TN
The student and I met tonight in order to specifically study for a TKAMB quiz on chapters 11-14. We went through each of the characters and major events in these chapters. From this, we created a study guide. He was able to recall information when I assisted, but recalling when asked broad questions was a bit more difficult. With more practice, this will improve. Before I left, I directed him in way to continue using his study guide and gave him some practice questions in math.
