If you are looking to pass a certification examination and earn your Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, consider signing up for a CLS course through Varsity Tutors today. Clinical Laboratory Scientists are professionals in the healthcare field, who are licensed to perform analyses throughout all clinical laboratory departments. CLS courses through Varsity Tutors can help you prepare for the final step in becoming a licensed CLS.
As a part of our CLS prep course, you will meet with a private tutor who will do their best to make sure you have the confidence and tools necessary to reach for your goals when exam day rolls around. If you feel that one of our CLS classes could be beneficial towards your preparation efforts, do not hesitate to get in touch.
In addition to a CLS license, there are a number of other Clinical Scientist licenses that are specific to certain fields. They are listed below:
Other Clinical Licenses:
- Clinical Chemist Scientist License
- Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License
- Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License

If the task at hand for you is preparing for a certification examination for licensure in one of these areas, Varsity Tutors can also provide you access to services in that field, similar to those you would receive in our CLS prep courses.
There are other requirements necessary before you are able to become a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Prior to enrolling in a CLS class and taking the certification exam, you should be sure that you have complete these additional requirements. They are listed here:
Academic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (baccalaureate) with specific course requirements:
- 16 semester or equivalent quarter units of chemistry, which must include clinical chemistry OR analytical and biochemistry.
- 18 semester or equivalent quarter units of biology, which must include hematology, immunology, and medical microbiology.
- 3 semester or equivalent quarter units of physics (light and electricity).
- If you served in the U.S. Air Force, the college work will be posted on a Community College of the Air Force transcript.
- If you served in other branches of the U.S. armed forces, the college work will be posted on a transcript from an approved military college.
- For military applicants without a degree, exceptions may apply. Please contact the Department for more information.
Once these prerequisites have been met, you are ready to take part in one of our CLS prep classes. One of the main benefits of being involved in a CLS prep class is that you can receive personalized instruction from a single tutor, who has your best interests in mind.
Instructors have the ability to first identify the strengths that you have with the relevant material. There is no use spending a large amount of your study time working through subject areas in which you are already an expert. Once they have evaluated your current level of knowledge, they can customize their lesson plans to focus specifically on the areas where you need the most assistance.
When you sign up for a CLS class, Varsity Tutors does its best to match you with a tutor whose schedule meshes well with yours. We understand that you already have a busy life, and being able to conveniently attend study sessions with your instructor is of the utmost importance. Our platform allows you to work with your tutor in a one-on-one virtual classroom setting, accessible anywhere that you have an internet connection.
While the material to be covered on the examination is priority number one, there are other ways to prepare for any surprises that may arise on test day. Individual tutors are able to share test-taking tips and strategies they have come across that might just give you an edge if you come across a tricky or difficult question.
If you would like to learn more about a CLS course with Varsity Tutors, Educational Directors are available to answer any questions you may have or get you signed up today. Feel free to call or contact them online to get started with our test preparation services.
