Students are developing their ability to decide who they want to be as people. It is our job to help them hone in on the skills that make them who they are and teach them how to use that power to be successful adults.
I graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a Bachelors in Psychology. I am a certified educator with over eight years of experience working in English Language Arts with 9th-12th grade students. I have also taught English to Students who Speak Other Languages (ESOL) 9th-12th grade of all language proficiency levels. Working with high school students has given me the opportunity to reflect on the impact we have on those around us. I have enjoyed my time teaching and helping students figure out that they DO like reading and that they ARE smart and capable of reaching their dreams. I enjoy using tech tools with students and helping them explore their creative abilities. My drive is for students to feel empowered and have the ability to advocate for themselves.
I am always looking for new students to tutor! I am available to support you and your students with English homework highschool and college level, college admissions essays, state test practice, and learning English just to name a few. Anything in the English realm is a go! I truly enjoy helping students with essay writing, note taking, and reading comprehension. Those skills will be useful to students no matter the career they choose in the future.
As an educator, I always think about how I would want my child to be treated. I respect each one of my students and use what they bring to the table to help them grow. All students can learn; but we have to take the time and effort to reach them where they are. I like to learn about students and how they learn as I prepare for our lessons.
When I am not tutoring or teaching, I enjoy cooking for my family, reading, and spending time with my very active four year old.
